Think we will in Adelaide and Bresnan will play. Still got a gut feeling Stokes will play at 6 to give us a 5th bowling option and Root will bat 3.
He's still bowling half a yard too short, which means that he's a bowler that builds a ****load of pressure but he doesn't run through teams the way he could or should. His strike rate since the home series against India is around 65 and he's not taken more than 5 poles in an innings, whereas Broad strikes every 54 balls (IIRC) and has 2 7-fors and 4 6-fors if we include the India series. He just seems to lost a bit of bite off the deck. Still a fine bowler with excellent control, but without that zip or swing (which he won't get) then he does lack consistently effective wicket-taking weapons beyond control. Which may be enough - we'll see.
Dunno but same start time for usIs Adelaide in the same timezone as Brisbane btw?
Half hour behindIs Adelaide in the same timezone as Brisbane btw?
If England were the Inbetweeners, Bresnan would definitely be Neil.
Actually due to DST they'd be half an hour ahead, no?Half hour behind
yeah didn't realise SA did dst.Actually due to DST they'd be half an hour ahead, no?
Which would have been the better question.Dunno but same start time for us
There's no way we'll win 5-0...even if we somehow manage a win in Adelaide.Does anyone else get the feeling that this Test could be the most pivotal of them all?
No result - Australia have to mess up horrendously at the MCG and SCG not to win back the Ashes.
Australian win - Australia carry the momentum into Perth paving the way for the second 5-0 whitewash in 8 years.
England win - Game on. The series to be decided at SCG.
Of course this relies on the massive assumption that Australia will crush England at Perth which is a good bet but not a certainty. Cricket is never as simple as statistics but it's been 36 years since we haven't lost there.
When Tests were on Channel 4 here they started at 10.30 so they could still show The Simpsons, Hollyoaks and then the news.Everywhere used to be 11 am starts. Pretty sure they moved them all back because the extra half hour always being taken meant days were finishing at 630 instead of 6, which the TV stations got pissed off with as it messed with their news times slots. As for Brisbane being different, I guess it's because they don't do daylight savings, so 10:30 local would be 11:30 in the main ratings areas which would mean the whole 6-7 timeslot would be unavailable for the news **** completely.
I said a few times I didn't think England would win a test in Australia but 5-0 is a bit too far for me to even dream of yet. Well, maybe just a glimmer of hope!
