Yup, not taking anything away from him. Sensational knock. But Shami and Ashwin's performances were overall just a tad better imo.

Ashwin's hundred pushes his batting average above 40 again with his bowling average below 30. Would be a staggering achievement if he can keep that up; I don't think anyone has done it since Faulkner 100 years ago.

Only way he keeps it up is if he plays against us more.

Not if he is promoted to 7 in the future. Could be as good as Dan Vettori. And that would be fine. India doesn't need him to be as good as Botham or Imran Khan. A Vettori like player would be just fine.

I think the next year or so will tell us a lot about where Ashwin might end up in regards to his career, we'll have to see if he can maintain a decent record in both disciplines overseas.
