What do you think of Virat Kohli?

Arachnodouche

International Captain
^Murali was a chucker.

More like a young Ponting, IMO. He does get imperious at times though. don't think anyone other than KP in the modern game looks as ****y and self assured when they get going.

So I wrote this about Sachin Tendulkar the other day, and I think it's equally accurate a descriptor of Virat Kohli with the form he's in:

[C]enturies at above a run a ball were no longer exceptional, they were exceptionally regular.
Kohli's ODI batting in recent years has been nothing short of incredible (and conceding that in a place where Jono can see it is difficult); I can't say I've ever witnessed better. Where does his career to date put him in the pantheon of ODI greats, and if he keeps this up, will we remember him as the best ever?

Don't want to talk about the future too much about how he will be regarded, however as you said, his performances have been nothing short of incredible so far. At this rate and given the number ODIs India play in a year and if the format lasts long enough, I think he will find it pretty easy to go past Tendulkar's 49 centuries.

Just a brilliant brilliant player, unbelievable to watch, excellent to have in your side.

Kohli's the type of guy who will retire young, so it's rather likely he'll retain a pretty damn impressive ODI record.

And you know this how?
well obviously I don't know this, but a few things might point to it:

a) in an era in which iconic Indian cricket players earn huge amounts of money, so that won't be an issue
b) appears to have a life outside of cricket

Highest compliment I've heard so far: Kohli is the Vettel of cricket.... And Jono, no, Vettel is not the Kohli of F1....

Really? I never really understood why so many people think that. Guy really, really likes to win is all I can see, but not a sore loser as such.

And yes, when Kohli breaks Sachin's record of chasing hundreds, that avatar needs to be brought back!

maybe you missed out the tour to Aus. And his generally **** behavior on the field.
I saw that :) Yeah, he was a bit of an ass there. I think he was just not used to being hammered by the opposition. All he had ever seen was India winning when he was in the team, first the youth side, and then the senior one. He wasn't a part of the England tour when they got thrashed earlier.
