Because he's not a number 3 batsman?Apparently Mahmudullah was offered the number three position but decided he's rather cut oranges. What goes through these players' heads at times does me cold.
Yeah but he's a fine player. Surely having a go at #3 beats sitting out.Because he's not a number 3 batsman?
If anything I think he's batting too low; should be #5 IMO.I think Mushfiqur is batting too high.
I don't know how you can say that about him. All he's done in both tests is put ****ty bowling away. He only played shots on the up once he was sure the ball wasn't doing anything. He looked far more solid than Tamim.Monimul is going to get wrecked overseas unless he reigns himself in and smartens up outside off. His cut in particular is a bit slashy for my tastes..
He barely moved his feet today when cutting; it was slashing, and that's why he eventually got out. He plays with hard hands and minimal footwork. It works on slower pitches but he will get eaten alive overseas if he tries to play in the same manner.I don't know how you can say that about him. Worth it.lol at pews editing his post to insert his new favourite word

I think he's one of Bangladesh's best batsmen, which is also what I might be saying about Shane Watson had he never become an opener and cemented his role batting at 6.Yeah but he's a fine player. Surely having a go at #3 beats sitting out.
Nasir Hossain is clearly good enough on batting alone.I think he's one of Bangladesh's best batsmen, which is also what I might be saying about Shane Watson had he never become an opener and cemented his role batting at 6.
What Bangladesh need to realise is that both Tamim and Mahmudullah are clearly in their top 7 batsmen and are good enough bowlers to be part of a 5 man attack. There's simply no need for either Nasir Hossain or Abdur Razzak in this team.
They should never be picking more than 3 specialist bowlers. They can stack their batting lineup, pick their two best pacers and Sohag and they've got 5 bowlers easily. When you factor in that Naeem will also play at some stage the situation is ridiculous.
As you can see my Avatar I kinda like Vettori, and definitely Southee how he went against England last series. But Boult's made a good start and Bracewell are alrightOn a random note I think Anderson will be good test bowler if he decides in a couple of years he has enough Watson effort overs under his belt and decides he's safe enough from injuries to let rip again.
Would be feeling a lot more confident with Southee and Vettori in it. Heck, just one would make me feel better.
Haha you'll tend to be found out in alien conditions even when it's "flat" though if you have a poor technique. Mominul reminds me a lot of Dhawan actually; probably doesn't have quite the eye or the finesse but the technique is quite similar. It'll be very interesting to see how they go in England, Australia and South Africa. Not that Bangladesh wouldn't absolutely chew your arm off for someone who averaged 50 in the subcontinent and 20 in countries they only tour once in a blue moon anyway, mind you...also it's CW ritual to question a young batsman's capability in mythical "bowling conditions" whenever they score runs even though everywhere is just flat
well, if you think so, but the point is that he has to make it as a batsman alone ahead of other batsmen because personally I think Bangladesh's best batsman are 1. Shakib 2. Mushfiqur 3. Mahmudullah.Nasir Hossain is clearly good enough on batting alone.
Of course there are some deficiencies which will screw you outside the SC like Raina's ball-above-knee-high phobia, but the old addage that "doesn't move his feet, fodder against good bowlers" doesn't really ring true these days, there's just so many exceptions. The best modern batsmen seem to favour playing the ball very late from the crease without much of a stride, which is frowned upon by classical coaches.Haha you'll tend to be found out in alien conditions even when it's "flat" though if you have a poor technique. To be honest we had to play on some absolute roads aswell when we toured there last year HERE!!..as you can see the first test had two 500 plus first innings!!...and yet we still found a way to win, so my view is if you've got an attack that can perform in these conditions then you should get a result. As impressive as the Bangladesh batsmen have been, I'll pass on that if all they are going to do is produce absolute roads. The chances of either team winning this game is slim to none just like the last one.
You guys have a good spinner though. To be honest we had to play on some absolute roads aswell when we toured there last year HERE!!..as you can see the first test had two 500 plus first innings!!...and yet we still found a way to win, so my view is if you've got an attack that can perform in these conditions then you should get a result.
