Trouble is we don't really have anything else other than Wilshere or Carrick that could play there at the moment. Future may not be so bad if Barkley progresses and Wilshere gets fit but world cup may be a bit too soon for Barkley in a central midfield role as he loses possession a lot at present playing further up for Everton.Well, tbf, I think we deserved that, and looked like getting it. No great quality, but at least there's some pace and invention on the wings, if it's still leaden in mid-field, and will whilst these two play together, but I guess we've just got to accept that.
While I think Lampard was a better player than Gerrard at his peak, for me Gerrard's just starting his descent while Lampard's halfway down the hill.Yeah I was thinking similar. Whatever argument there may have been for Lampard over Gerrard in the past (and for me I've never bought it) it's not up for discussion anymore.
Oh dear, poor fella.
Class from Strurridge mind you
Should just give him and Chamberlain a go I reckon. They can't do any worse than some of the plodders who've stunk up the last few tournaments playing in that position. Gerrard doesn't have the legs he used to, and the likes of Parker, Barry and Lampard were just overran by the decent sides in the last two tournaments.Trouble is we don't really have anything else other than Wilshere or Carrick that could play there at the moment. Well as you know I don't agree with the first bit but yeah I do the second, it's fair enough too as Lampard is a bit older if I'm not mistaken. Also worth considering that Gerrard has probably been our best player under Woy.While I think Lampard was a better player than Gerrard at his peak, for me Gerrard's just starting his descent while Lampard's halfway down the hill.
I agree, as well as Barry is playing at Everton he can't get a recall unless Gerrard/Lampard miss the tournament as we'd have no pace at all in midfield. Just don't see an England manager being brave enough to do it like Germany did last time. Not saying our kids are anywhere near as good as theirs were/are but the principal is the same.Should just give him and Chamberlain a go I reckon.
