I just started watching the game. Again, I didn't say the pitch wasn't of "international standard", I'm saying it's bad preparation to not be experiencing varying conditions. Which should be pretty obvious I would have thought. I like the tournament format. But it should be played at a variety of venues. Hopefully North Sydney is significantly different.
they are playing games at 3 other grounds, of course their is going to be a variety of conditions ffs they'll go from this pitch where the par score is 220 to north sydney where the par score is 10 billion, how is there no variety fmd

as ODI laws state at the 30 over mark the batting team can take the assumed double score and declare, or risk it all and play on
It would have to depend on the wickets lost. If you were 8 down then of course you'd take it.

Aside from Warner, the best batsmen in this competition are scoring the most runs (Wade, Klinger, White, Smith, etc) whilst those with dodgy techniques are being exposed

Think that's all you can hope for really irrespective of whether the game is being played at Bankstown or the SCG

I hope you're trolling mate. Obviously playing on the same venues that the ODIs will be played on is better preparation. Not sure if you've played much cricket but playing on a ground your familiar with is a big advantage. So when 2015 world cup comes and Aus are playing on the MCG would you rather have guys who haven't played One Day cricket on the ground for years or guys who have been playing all season? Come on mate.

Hiding behind sarcasm isn't contributing to the discussion. It's ok to admit when you're wrong.

You know what would be a great format? Exactly like it is now, maybe a few more games, but played around the country. Play 3 or 4 games in Queensland, then play a few in NSW, then Vic, then Tassie, Then SA, then WA. Play the final at the team that finished first's home ground.

Poor Cricket from SACA, amazing how often that happens as soon as the batting powerplay is taken.

look m9 that would be fantastic and i'm sure CA floated such an idea but channel 9 wouldn't have wanted a bar of it, way to much expense for them and at the end of the day CA were desperate to get this on free to air, and they've achieved that with an alternative that really isn't as poor as your making it out to be.

and as is the flavour of the month they're growing the game in the key battleground of western sydney

2 Points:

- Sam Miller could have got home or at least got close if he tried. But he just gave up as soon as Klinger told him to go back. It would have put more pressure on Paine as well who received a shocking throw. Poor Effort.
- Powerplay always seems to bring wickets. Suggests that most captains are far too defensive throughout the middle-overs of the innings and could benefit from bringing the field up more often.

I know why they did it, it's not what's best for Australian cricket though. You're right that I've been overly critical but I'm passionate and I would have liked to have gone to a game or 2 this season at the MCG. Now I'll settle for a Shield game and the Test but ****** if I'm going near a Big Bash.
