***Official*** Pakistan in Zimbabwe

Well i have to say i'm surprised Pakistan have had so many problems in these test matches!!..the first one they were behind before Khan played his good knock, now they are looking at a 200 plus chase in the second test. We played Zimbabwe earlier this year HERE and i can tell you without question that Kyle Jarvis and Craig Ervine were their best players by a mile and the fact that they are missing along with Sean Williams and STILL putting up a fight bodes well for them moving forward. Jarvis was moving the ball both ways at good pace and was a constant threat while Ervin was very gritty and hard to get out at times.

I'm happy to see Vitori get back to form though!!..the lad is exciting and him partnering Jarvis would be a very decent opening pair i think. In the Caribbean Shillingford gave them all sorts of problems and they were almost scared to face the guy towards the end. So when i saw Ajmal fill his boots in the first test i thought "here we go" it's gonne be easy for them. But surprisingly thus far in this test they have done ok against the spinners which is giving them a sniff at a win now.

Often the problem with lower ranked sides is not knowing how to get over the line!!..so that will ultimately be the test where Zim are concerned. I suspect they'd want to bat at LEAST until lunch but tea would obviously be better. Sibanda, Weller and Chigumbura are still to bat and Taylor is still there!!..70 to100 more runs should not be impossible here. And if they do make it near the 300 mark lead then it really will be game on.

I thought so too, until Vitori either revealed his true colours or hit a bad form slump shortly after the return to test cricket. And now it is never going to happen.

Excited about the game though expect Pakistan to win.

Does anyone else scan WindieWeathers posts just to see the inevitable reference to West Indian cricket, then feel all smug when you do see it?

This is the best chance of winning a test match that Zimbabwe has got in recent times.. Hope they dont goof it up..They should at a bare minimum atleast draw the match.. Always exciting to see an underdog doing well..

I hoping for Zimbabwe to get at least a 300-350 run lead for them to at least be in with a shot. Only problem is on a 5th day pitch I'm doubtful Utseya could take any real advantage of it.

Sorry to derail slightly and go onto the annoyingly-hypothetical 'if only' scenarios, but I was writing an article on Zimbabwean cricket and I came up with the thought that an 'Exile' XI would arguably be stronger than the current side. Came up with the following XIs (obviously Current XI selection is debatable):

Expat - 1. Compton, 2. ???, 3. Ballance, 4. Goodwin, 5. Ervine, 6. Ervine, 7. Taibu, 8. Querl, 9. Harris, 10. Jarvis, 11. Ireland
Current - 1. Mawayo, 2. Sibanda, 3. Masakadza, 4. Taylor, 5. Waller, 6. Williams, 7. Chigumbura, 8. Meth, 9. Cremer, 10. Masakadza, 11. Vitori

Obviously taking the piss slightly by considering Compton and Paul Harris for selection and missing an opening batsmen tends to be a slight issue, but yeah.

Dealing in boundaries, are Pakistan. I know there is 45 overs today and 90 tomorrow remaining, but I think an aggressive mindset from Hafeez is the best plan of attack for him. A quick fire 70 would be huge for the tourists here.

LOL Hafeez. You would think he might have learned a little bit from the shot he played the ball before. Soft shot Mo, on your bike.

Pakistan need over 200 with 8 wickets. Zim really have a chance here! Would be great for cricket if they pull it off.
