I'd wait until after India's tour of South Africa before deciding how big of an opportunity this is. I get the feeling that this Indian team is a whole different kettle of fish from the rabble that got bounced 8-0 in 2011/12. Still, time will tell.
It will really depend on the Indian selectors.

If they get Bhuvneshwar and Umesh Yadav bowling together and have one or both of their good spinners (Ojha or Ashwin) we will struggle. Likewise if they select their new generation of batsmen who are hungry for it we could struggle.

But then they might continue with Ishant and bring back Yuvraj and Sehwag so we can play those god-awful "Rockstars of Cricket" ads again.

Make the pitches bouncy and we will be fine.

We have our fair share of FTBs but ours like bouncier and quicker NZ flat tracks rather than the slower, lower ones where hitting through the line gets you caught at cover.

Needless to say there's about 1% chance of us producing a pitch like that for the India tour. I'll obviously be over the moon if it does happen.

that reminds me...Kippax mate have you got footage of Southee's 10-fer at lords? and the rest of the Southee/Boult bowling in England? There's none of it on youtube.

Can't think of the last time there was a fast bouncey test wicket in NZ tbh.
Hamilton, 2012 vs RSA was also pretty quick.
I recall hearing after the match that the yaps thought it was one of the quickest decks they had played on, the spell Steyn and Morkel bowled at the end of the second day was deadly.
It was also pretty quick for Pakistan too in 2011 when Riaz ran through us.
Cant really judge how it would have performed later in the match though

3 Tests & 3 ODIs would be better, but I'm pretty happy with that result overall. Feared there might be no Tests at all.

Wonder why there's a delay in confirming venues.

HRV finals weekend looks a bit squished as a concept. They presumably make it Auckland for the 1st ODI that Sunday, but you'd presume no big names and probably no local side for their Saturday night final.

Is in the vault. It won't survive if upped as a public video (Rob was fearing for his whole channel during a massive ECB crackdown just before the Ashes) so I will do this for you sometime.

Yep the vault filter has produced a 10+ mins package for you, is silent though obvs. Cricinfo's text commentaries now bookmarked, will control-F if there's specific stuff people remember. Every ball of each match now in a folder here.

that brilliant, thanks.

Watching that video completely buries the "England are underperforming" argument. Had they been even slightly less disciplined they would have been in huge trouble.

Kinda random Q but what role will Devcich play for ND in the whites this season? He's batted from 1-7 and I think he's been selected as a frontline bowler sometimes too from memory. What does he see himself as? It's never really mattered in the past because he's never looked up to it or achieved much but for better or worse he tonned up the other day so regardless of whether he has improved or a nearly FC standard player played the innings of his life, he's going to have some more rope this season for ND and maybe a bit of a consistent run in one role as well.
