he seems to be in denial though at least publicly...Wow.
Just wow.
Fed has clearly declined.
"I struggled throughout, which is not very satisfying... I kind of feel like I beat myself, without taking any credit away from Tommy. Clearly he was making sure he was making many balls. It was up to me to make the difference and I couldn't."he seems to be in denial though at least publicly...
he is only talking about that one loss though, not the longer-term decline that's going on...i have yet to see him admit to that..."I struggled throughout, which is not very satisfying... I kind of feel like I beat myself, without taking any credit away from Tommy. Clearly he was making sure he was making many balls. It was up to me to make the difference and I couldn't."
Interpret from that what you will. To me he is basically saying during these losses that he's not making the shots that he usually makes and should be making. Age has to be the reason.
I was agreeing with you. He is listing the reasons for him losing as him not performing or playing at his best. But then not stating that age/decline is the reason why this is occurring.he is only talking about that one loss though, not the longer-term decline that's going on...i have yet to see him admit to that...
ah ok never mind then...I was agreeing with you. He is listing the reasons for him losing as him not performing or playing at his best. But then not stating that age/decline is the reason why this is occurring.
Does anyone actually think he's tarnishing his legacy? The most cited example of this seems to be Muhammad Ali, but his legacy is barely tarnished at all.Fed is clearly past his best that is obvious. What is glaring is how and when he is loosing. Loosing to Djoker, Rafa and Murray or even the seond tier (Berdych, Delpo even David) is one thing, to loose to Robredo in the fourt round is another, especially what happened at Wimbledon. He just isn't Roger anymore and if things don't turn around next year he needs to seriously look at retirement before his legacy is futher tarnished.
He is actually in serious danger of not making it to London, that would be tragic and actually sad.
Yeah, I've never understood the tarnishing argument, bit different in a Team sport, because you could be said to take up a place of a youngun. Yet in individual sports it doesn't hurt.Does anyone actually think he's tarnishing his legacy? The most cited example of this seems to be Muhammad Ali, but his legacy is barely tarnished at all.
I'd like to see him go on playing, I think he adds a lot to tennis even if he's not one of the best in the world anymore. But I think he might quit too soon.
