They are not a very knowledgeable crowd
Stunning reference. Great stuff by this boarder on debut.

In this 2012 piece, Chris Rogers wrote why he thought Smith was progressing best among young Aust batsmen Chris Rogers: Is Australian batting at an ebb? | Cricinfo Magazine | ESPN Cricinfo … #ashes

completely forgot about that article.

Really good, insightful article from Rogers, I believe it was his debut Cricinfo piece.

I loved how honest he was with it, I guess he didn't really expect that he'd be on his Ashes debut with some of them just over a year later.

Plus, with a newish ball and such good swing bowling conditions, you'd really have hoped to get more than one specialist bat...
Yeah, it's been grim stuff from an English pov. Ordinary bowling from our front-line quicks and dire captaincy from Cook not to use the spinners by now. It looks like he's already given up on Kerrigan, which is not the point of this game at all.

I don't think the use of bowlers from Cook in that session was that bad. There were just 27 overs bowled and the 3 pace bowlers bowled the majority of the overs. Swann could have easily come on for Trott, but he ends up taking the wicket so..

The thought of watching Faulkner disgusts Clarke and Wade as much as it disgusts PEWS and I it seems

Woakes on debut v Faulkner on debut. We'll watch this in 15 years as a historic moment, the day the next batch of world class all-rounders arrived.

Yeah, I know it's hard to argue against Trott when he removed Haddin but I think there's a bigger picture here in terms of Kerrigan regaining some sort of confidence if he's going to have any sort of role at this level.

The other bigger picture is that we've looked really poor both time Aus have batted first in this series. Given that your guys won't be preparing pitches for Swann in 3 months time, you have to fear for us in the return leg.

That's the way to play I think, a brisk 30 will pretty much secure the draw at a minimum for the Aussies. ODI game suits Faulkner down to the ground as well.

Sensational shot from Faulkner on debut. The audacity of the young man is just terrific to see and again..
