Woakes at 6? Intredasting. Probably do a better job than Bairstow, but doesn't look particularly strong. Looking forward to seeing Kerrigan bowl, not seen too much of him TBH.

It is honestly the stupidest thing ever. One of my ultimate pet hates.
Up there with broadcasters complaining about over rates and the lack of snicko in DRS.

If they brought Ben Stokes and Chris Tremlett in for Trott and Kerrigan then that'd be true. They've brought Woakes in to make sure they have still have three seamers; Faulkner's come in to make sure Australia have five. It's not even close to the same thing.
How much is Faulkner paying you for this PR job?

Yeah its crazy that Starc isn't at 8 for sure.
They've moved a keeper up to 6 and brought in an all rounder on debut to bat at number 7. That doesn't happen often, its a similar event.

A long discussion here on the Aussie balance being thrown off-guard due to Faulkner's selection. Just had a look at the team sheets and it looks pretty similar for England and Australia.
A dogged left handed opener, batsman who bowls a bit at 3, best batsman at 4, keeper and allrounder at 6 and 7 followed by 2 bowling allrounders, best pace bowler at 10 and spinner at 11.
Slight variations here and there though.

Looking at Woakes' season by season record, he's actually performed pretty well for Warwickshire with the bat. 579 runs at 48.25 with 1 hundred in 2011, 588 runs at 73.50 with 2 hundreds in 2012 and then this season he's scored 386 runs at 38.6. He's obviously a capable bat, but still don't think he's a Test match #6. Looking forward to seeing how he goes.
