So basically, Khawaja out, Hughes back in, with Twatto batting 4 to allow Clarke to bat 5. Looks pretty strong to me.
Are we planning on destroying Clarke"s career my moving him up down every match(4 54545).He needs to continue batting where he is presently and that's at 4.Watson is not good as a pure batsman to be batting at 4.Clarke has to be in the top 4 surely. I'd stick with the same team maybe replace Bird with a fit Patto.

? I don't see it personally.

Clarke plays best at 5. Twatto has been good enough as a specialist bat to open, so I'm pretty sure he's good enough to bat 4.

My opinion on Watson opening has been well documented.Watson shouldn't bat in the top 5.He is inferior a bat to Hughes Khawaja RogersWarner Smith and not to mention Clarke.Further more he is suited to batting at 6 with his style of play.

Can someone please explain to me what the obsession with Phil Hughes is?

Don't get me wrong, I do think he's been harshly treated this time round - moved up and down the order and then dropped two tests after making a score. But to me he just looks like someone who is never going to make the grade at test level. How many more times does he need to fail before you give up on him?

Phil Hughes is the most exciting batting talent in the country, his confidence has just been shot down. Most persons believe that if he gets going he can make an opposition pay more than the other young bats we have, hell more than all bats we have bar Clarke. He shouldn't have been dropped in 2009 because his confidence was sky high back then.If at any stage of his career he could battle through those tough times it was back then, sadly selector didn't back him and as a result they made the cardinal sin of opening with Watson and right now they"ve finally realize Watson isn't a test opener.

Yet when push comes to shove his record is extremely mediocre.

So why has his confidence been shot down? If it's because he keeps being dropped, there's probably a reason for that.

Hughes has had a lot of chances and that's fine as their isn't many people pushing past for selection. But to persist with someone with such a poor technique is foolish in the least. His home ground is Adelaide this year and to me that gives an extra few runs to his average for the year. There are others who are at that level to be given a chance.

Hughes for no. 6. Has looked the most comfortable there by a country mile. Seems fairly obvious by now that 3 was weighing on him.

Khawaja should be given an extended go the same way Cowan was. First drop is the absolute last place you want a makeshift batsman in, as evidenced by the past three years.

I agree but unless he goes big today or tomorrow Uzi will get dropped. Hughes will probably get back in along with Faulkner just to really piss people off.

We'd have been over the ****ing moon if you'd have persisted with him in 2009

And yet the short term thinking of dropping him gave us what? Twatto and Ed Cowan. Yeah that worked out.

He's a bit of a problem child in recent times but Watson did pretty well when he came into the side for Hughes. Of course he still had the problems making 100's back then but his average was in the 40's for a long while

To me Hughes just looks like a batsman with glaring technical flaws all over the place. Defensive technique is loose, bat often comes down from 3rd slip, not great against the short ball, not great against spin

Superb hand/eye co-ordination and a great striker of the ball capable of scoring very quickly when he's on song but has never looked like he belonged at test level when I've seen him.

I don't even know what Spikey is trying to prove from his lunch time project. Is he suggesting that Michael Hill should wear the baggy green which allows Aaron Finch a spot for Victoria and he gets to be captain too?

Maddo and Dom Michael have the most consistent scores from that lot.

why didn't he get more of a run after he made that big ton on debut? (i think it was actually his debut too)

Has only played one first class match. Not sure how he didn't snag a game last season.

Averages like 160 from memory.
