*Official* Fourth Test at Chester-le-Street

Taylor has his own technical issues though, same as Bairstow does. I don't think either of them are ready-built test number 6's at this point in time and the jury is still very much out as to whether either of them will ever nail down a spot in this team
You're doing it wrong, the bloke who's out of the team is always better. Always

Don't really expect any personnel changes from either team. Possibly Onions in for one of the quicks, possibly Bresnan (quite unfairly)

I think Warner might be moved to open with Watson playing at 6 (where he should have been playing all along)

Word out is that Watson will bat at 4(lol) atleast they realise he is not an opener. Why move Clarke to 5 when he batted brilliantly at 4 in the first innnings.Love the Warner Rogers opening combo, easily the best combo we could come up with.I think Smith has shown enough to warrant an extended stay,Khawaja is a gun and with a little patience he"ll deliver the goods. On the bowling front the Bird should be playing next test, he is a better bowler than Starc by quite a distance. He'll build pressure (something Starc hasn"t done) and also take wickets.I think this current lot of selectors underestimate bowlers who bowl 80-85 miles per hour.If you're good enough you''ll take wickets regardless.

As for giving Anderson a rest - bowling in all forms of the game 2013
Finn 484.4
Broad 482.4
Anderson 455.5
Onions 436.4
Bresnan 347.5
Tremlett 295.1

Anderson is used to playing a 5 Test series. The more he bowls the fitter he stays. He probably will be rested from the ODIs.

Starc has obvious potential but his inability to make the new batsmen consistently play at the ball is frustrating. More so when he has the new rock.

Starcs better with the 2 nd new ball which isn't really the point of an opening bowler.

We would be better off giving the new ball to Siddle. And if Starc first open because he's not a new ball wicket taker then Bird has to play.

It's ridiculous how they've kept opening with Starc. Guy has almost always sprayed it around at the start. Doesn't have the aggro factor of a Pattinson either. Starc will always be foil and it will suit his style better too.

Maybe Siddle prefers the older ball more..there's just no logical excuse why he isn't opening all the time.

No ,Siddle is better when he comes on first change.Starc will need to develop his game.Bird and Harris will do with the new ball.

Starc is our specialist second new ball bowler, but he can get it reversing as well. Starc isn't just about swing either, I thought he bowled well in the first innings, he is able to push the ball across batsmen and make them play when they shouldn't, reminds me of Mitchell Johnson when he was actually decent.

That is the stupidest thing I've heard - Watson batting at 4, if that's true. Clark needs to be at 4. He's a natural number 4, I don't know why he's got such a hang-up about 5. As for Watson, they just have to stick with him until the end of this series and then transition him out of the side into a one-day specialist.

I've got my doubts about Australia backing up. I feel another batting collapse is coming on.

Think given how Siddle has been bowling in this series, swinging it a lot more than usual, he would have been excellent with the new ball. Starc has been decidedly average with it, so he has often been brought on fairly early anyway, but I think they missed a trick by not picking up on that earlier.
