doesn't make it right... how about organise a match with the Lions so the Aussies get a good challenge and all the test hopefuls can play, Sussex couldn't even give us Goffers ffs
Ermm James Taylor into Sussex's batting line up makes it stronger. What does loaning players have to do with the point you are making?

Shame that Hilfenhaus never became a world-class bowler. I always enjoyed watching him bowl those big outswingers.
If his action was higher like it was around the 2011/12 season, he would've been bloody good.

But so often he just seemed kinda innocuous.

You do it to suit yourself when you can, but still deprive us of a proper tour game. The lions should play Australia, it's the closest thing to the real matches, makes more sense than all this county swapping nonsense, why shuffle players around when you can have the best of both worlds - Taylor plays for the lions (a proper audition because he'l be with better players) and we get to play a good tour game.

I always thought Hilf was overrated myself. Very seldom did he deliver to match the hype that surrounded him. Rather have a fit Fleming.

we all hate him except for Nuffers NUFAN
Yeah, I rate Faulkner very highly in the short formats, he is one of the first players picked in both our T20 and ODI sides IMO. In the Test team, its a little different as I'm not comfortable having him as one of the 3 paceman but there are particular situations where I think he can be useful in our team, for instance at Durham for the fourth Test if the selectors decided to get rid of Watson and our spinner does nothing at Manchester, we could easily play:
1 Rogers 2 Warner 3 Khawaja 4 Hughes 5 Clarke 6 Smith 7 Haddin 8 Faulkner 9 Siddle 10 Harris 11 Bird

Also, even though Faulkers Faulkner hasn't scored a first class ton, he has definitely improved his batting over the past 12 or so months.

Dirty POMS not bending over backwards to give you the best possible preparation.

First two India Tests he was shocking, yeah. But games 3 & 4 he went away, worked his arse off and came out to make decent runs when nobody else could.
I feel as though he only worked his arse off once in those final 2 Tests. Two of the other 3 innings he got out cheaply and then the other innings where he made a quick 45 he smashed a fair few ordinary deliveries along with some nice shots.

1 gritty innings out of 8.

What do the Australians here think of his bowling. He is certainly medium-fast but his First Class record is far better than Starc and only slightly worse than Bird. Surely he must bring something special with the ball to average 23. I'm not saying he should be picked or anything, but I'm just wondering what people who have seen him bowl often think.
Left arm Glenn McGrath. Bats like Kevin Pietersen. #ShaneWarneThoughts

Interesting little knock from RHB yesterday. Big fan of his personally. Like the way he plays his cricket, and seems to be highly regarded by his fellow players. Just a shame the death of Tom Maynard affected his game so much.

Seeing as our braindead authorities have scheduled the T20 for the time of the ashes then it would cause a huge stink to play a Lions team and take basically 25 players including the test squad out of the county cricket matches. I'd not have a problem with it myself but it is something that needs looking at for future summers as you can't have the main test series of the summer going on while the players are basically playing hit and giggle cricket with the odd championship match shoved in the middle. I'd certainly look at tourists getting better matches than playing Worcester****e as they are woeful and it serves no purpose for either side.

Last few years have seen continual complaints from the counties over players being picked for the lions and missing important games. Given its in the middle of the twenty twenty season they would have been even more pissed off.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the T20 is being split up throughout the season next year so that might help a bit

OK, fine, it still doesn't sit well with me that England can conveniently move players into different counties but we still play the same dud teams though. Even NZ got to play the lions ffs! I understand that counties hate lions games though.

It's a perfectly good team to face in a warm up. I just don't like Taylor playing in it because he's not a Sussex player.

Did Turner get picked simply to make up the numbers or something? no contribution to the game yet for the poor lad
