Potential International Trades

He shouldn't even be our 3rd choice seamer, and if the last test shows the pecking order, he isn't.
Ditto for Wagner, though his modest success against a pretty strong English batting lineup will probably ensure that we have to suffer through his (occasional) peaches and (frequent) pies for another 6 months.

Would he keep? I'd say Thirramanne for Wagner tbh
He could, but to be perfectly honest he's easily good enough to bat at 5 as a specialist.

Hmmm, Wagner is pretty disposable, but then again we really don't need another top order batsman who can't average above 25 against top 8 opposition.

I know nothing about Chandimal except that he's pretty highly rated so if SL took that trade then it's a good one for us since Wagner isn't vital and my gut tells me he won't be our number two left armer for the long term.

Wagner couldn't even make his state side in South Africa. That shows how bad he/New Zealand is.
Brownlie wasn't good enough for WA either and he still dealt with your lot. You could have him back if you like. How about Siddle? (face)

Or more seriously, Lyon...

bit harsh on Thirramanne, he struggled early in his career as an opener but has since played well at 4, he did score 90 odd against the Aussies at Sydney early this year. They are calling him the next Sanga

The proposed swap was Chandimal for Boult, not Wagner.
Wouldn't take that.

I remember that innings. Looked good. Don't know what else he has done but if nothing else he's versatile which is a plus.

Hmm, I haven't really seen much of him, but if any SL fans proposed such a trade, I'd probably accept it. I've never rated Wagner, and the vast majority of his wickets v England came from rubbish balls that the English batsman kept mysteriously hitting in the air to fielders. Thirimanne is still young, and could improve a lot. I don't see as much potential for Wagner to do the same.

Yeah, but that's because Finn has some very real attributes (height and pace) that work to counteract the fact that he's a walking pie factory.

Wagner is a Siddle like bowler in a way though, I was impressed by his vigour in the first test at Dunedin, he seems like a guy who will take wickets even when conditions don't suit him. But then again, he isn't accurate enough and doesn't have any real strengths or attributes.

He's an out and out swing bowler, both conventional and reverse. When the ball isn't swinging he seems to use pure fury as his Plan B, which is fun in theory but often leads to lots of runs because he's not an accurate bowler who builds pressure with consistency.

If only Ronchi could do other things...
I hate to say it but he wasn't terrible in Australian domestic cricket by any means and he's one of the few domestic batsmen to take Southee/Boult to the cleaners...

He's definitely not a ****ing ODI opener though.

But while Australia have Haddin he's the best bet. Ronchi shouldn't be and isn't the first choice test keeper in either Oceania side tbh.
