*Official* Second Test at Lord's

King Pietersen

International Captain
Gonna be a really interesting morning. Reckon the pitch'll be great for batting for both sides' first innings, but turn and reverse later on in the game. Root needs runs at the top for his confidence, be nice to see him bag a ton in the first innings, not going to be easy starting up against Pattinson and Harris though.

Don't think they could play Finn after the last test, just can't risk him bowling that badly again.

I hope we have done the whole underestimating Bresnan thing like we used to.
More to the point they couldn't risk him bowling that badly in a four-man attack. When Starc was losing his radar for Aus he could get taken off straight away as they had Watson there as another reasonably reliable option. It made Starc bowl better too because they didn't have these confidence issues. We didn't have that, we had to bowl Anderson into the ground.

Secondly a lot is made of Finn's record at Lord's but a lot of it's flukey wickets against sides that were folding anyway (Banglandesh/Pakistan 2010) or already made huge runs (SL 2011). Only really his performance against SA last year was all that.

Going a bit out on a limb there suggesting the pitch is flat - hope you've consulted Burgey and Welalbidarned before making such definitive statements ;)

This is kind of like watching tribal behaviour. Like when you watch Bruce Parry or someone go into the jungle and a voiceover explains who all the important people in the tribe are with no explanation whatsoever

I had a dream last night. Australia opened with Michael Hussey, Agar batted four, Warne and Dennis Lillee (!) were both in the bowling attack. Is this likely to happen?

Just read Bresnan has 5 wickets @66 in 4 Tests at Lord's, Steven Finn has 29 @20.7 in 5 Tests. Testament to just how dire he was at Trent Bridge that no one objects.

It certainly seems counter-intuitive to play it this way around - what's Bresnan's record at TB?
