****ing hell mate, who exactly told you that it was Australia's god given right to win all the time???
We don’t, but I think I have the right to question why Australian Cricket is in the current position it finds itself and to be pissed off about it given the sport is going to have to fight tooth and nail to survive in the 21st century as it is. It's going to be hard enough without this and a big reason Cricket is failing on all levels in Australia is because of Cricket Australia.
The Aussies held onto the urn for 18 ****ing years.....that didn't spell the end of test cricket did it??. It just so happens that for the last couple of series and maybe this one, England have had a better team than you......that is allowed in the rules of the game you know.
Those 18 years weren’t good for the Ashes. Just because England had a massive losing Ashes streak doesn’t mean I have to accept one from Australia. One and two series losses here and there are fine under some circumstance but what we are witnessing here is unacceptable. We are facing at least 4 or even 5 Ashes losses in a row here. This is a position Australian Cricket should not be in I'm sorry. I'm sorry for having some standards.
We’re about to lose 3 straight Ashes series since the first time since World Series Cricket and are looking down the barrel of 4 straight in less than 6 months. Something like that hasn’t happen since 1890! When we where still finding our feet as a nation.
This losing streak is unacceptable and just highlights how poorly Cricket has been run here for a very long time.
What really pisses me off is that Cricket Australia has helped improve the chances of this losing streak to continue too because of their greed. By agreeing to move the 2014/15 Ashes forward a year they have taken away a whole year for Australia to have a chance to improve as a team and improve their chances to retain the Ashes. Now we only have a blink of an eye to prepare and try and improve for the next series at home. A couple of months isn’t enough. Not only that they agreed to move the 2017 Ashes two years forward giving us even less time to improve for that away series. Australia needed this time like never before, but Cricket Australia took it away from us and then gave us one last middle finger by agreeing to link the World Cup and Ashes together in 2019. Something they said that they were trying to delink in 2015, well at least delink for England. I could almost deal with the other stuff, almost, but this was a massive "go **** yourself we don't really care" by Cricket Australia to Australian Cricket lovers like myself. This was the final straw for me.
Cricket Australia have sabotage our future Ashes chances along with the future of the game here. It’s almost impossible to get any enjoyment out of the game anymore knowing what these ****ing ****s have done. They are not fit to run this great game anymore.
It's a cycle mate, you've been **** before and you've been great before (and no doubt will be again) just so happens that it is our turn right now...........no need to be cutting off people's heads just because you've lost a couple of Ashes tests. I guess like a lot of cricket nuts here I get very involved in these contests and invest a lot of myself in them, but at the end of the day mate it is still only a game....you win, you lose, you shake hands and move onto the next one.
We’ve never been this **** before and there is doubt we’ll be great again. The game is dying here with the youth of Australia. Kids are less interested in Cricket then they have ever been before. Every loss will turn more kids away to other sports. Honourable losses and consecutive Ashes losses aren’t good enough to help turn the tide I am afraid. Years of incompetent running has helped the decline of Cricket in Australia. We are running out of time to save the game. You won’t see the full affects of the decline of Australian Cricket until down the road.
Your fully entitled to your opinion but really, your dour outlook on the game makes for very depressing reading, the Ashes is alive and well and we've just had a ripping contest and kudos to both teams for making it so........every Aus or Eng cricket fan should be celebrating that fact today of all days.........pack your negativity away and enjoy what we've all enjoyed over the last 5 days.
Apparently I’m not. Don’t post what people don’t want to hear deep down. Keep the unbearable truths untold. Just pretend everything is rainbows and lollipops or else. Just shut up and enjoy watching your team lose and your sport in my country die off slowly.
My outlook on the game isn’t too far from the mark though most won’t accept it. You’re only saying the Ashes is alive and well because England won first up. If Australia go down 0-2 at Lords then watch most of the general interest here go away as people will turn all their focus towards the September finals. That’s not alive and well.
Why the hell would I celebrate losing? Once you are celebrating losses you have fully embraced mediocrity. After losing the last 3 out of 4 Ashes being content with losing is not good enough anymore. You may have gotten away with this in 2005 but not now.
If cricket makes you feel so low maybe it is not the sport for you....or do you only enjoy it when you win every game??
I enjoy it when I know when the people who have been put into the responsibility to take charge of my team and my sport do their best to get the best out of if it and look after its best interests and when the sport is given the best possible chance to survive going into the future. None if which have been done.
The hard truth is that Cricket is dying in Australia on the path it is on. This would be hard enough for any good administration to combat let alone a bunch of inept wankers like Cricket Australia. Australian kids are turning away from Cricket. The sport is expensive to play, takes long hours to commit to while standing around in a field and sitting down doing nothing and most of the time you are barely involved. It is hard enough to market to kids nowadays as it is. What the national team has dished up over the last 5 years is hardly going to help this and I don't see how losing more of the most hyped up Cricket event here is going to turn the tide with Gen Y and future generations. But I guess I should be celebrating because one game was close and England won anyway.
If we lose this summer if will be the death knell for the future of Cricket in Australia. Too much damage would have been done then. That will be the time I completely give up on Cricket because it will be a lost cause then. Don't fool yourself, just because Cricket has been apart of Australia for the last 150 plus years don't automatically think this will always be the case going into the future. Things change over time and the way things are going Cricket's relevance in the Australian sporting landscape in going to be very different in a generation.
