Because as great as he was, the other blokes were better.I'm actually at a loss as to how Burgey's picked an Australian Ashes XI without Steve Waugh.

Yep, we have a plethora of inept bowlers to pick from but I think you are harsh on Bicknell, had he been picked against any side but a marauding Aussie one he'd have had a very good test career. Don't get as many wickets as he did on the Oval pitches of the day without being a very good bowler. Showed that in his brief return v SA 10 years later.Surely Martin Bicknell, Mark Ealham and Mark Illott are unlucky to miss out there?
Is you number 11 Nick Cook, the left arm spinner? I remember him often failing to release the ball in his delivery stride, like he had the yips or something. Was very odd.
Not that it matters to anyone but pedants like me, but I'm sure DKL took 167 wickets against England. Being out by 39 wickets there, I'm assuming you forgot to count his '81 series.Top 6 runscorers, most dismissals and top 4 wicket takers leaves the sides looking as follows:
England:

2. DI Gower (3,037 runs @ 46.01, 9 100s, 11 50s)
3. WR Hammond (2,852 runs @ 51.85, 9 100s, 7 50s)
4. H Sutcliffe (2,741 runs @ 66.85, 8 100s, 16 50s)
5. JH Edrich (2,644 runs @ 48.96, 7 100s, 13 50s)
6. G Boycott (2,579 runs @ 46.05, 6 100s, 12 50s)
7. APE Knott (93 catches, 8 stumpings)
8. IT Botham (128 wickets @ 28.04, 7 5w, 1 10w)
9. RGD Willis (123 wickets @ 24.37, 7 5w)
