This is the danger of our tactics, bugger up the last 10 overs bit and you're left below par.
Indeed. To be fair though, the danger of the opposite set of tactics is having your top order knocked over early and then getting bowled out for 160. England will post decent to good scores more often than any other side, even if they're sometimes a little below par. There's a very small failure rate in what they do and it works if you have a firing bowling attack, which is why England had such a good record at home for a while there. I'm less convinced in it when their bowlers aren't in top form, or when Dernbach is playing, but they're playing the percentages with it and backing their strengths.

Surely if you bugger up the last 10, you're always going to have a below-par score, unless you are India.
Wasn't really a criticism of the tactics, I agree with using them in this tournament, but part of the plan is for the middle/lower order to catch us up, so when they fail at that bit it leaves with a disappointing score. More a criticism of the batting at the death really. And I guess your statement is true, yeah.

Re: last 10 overs. Just imagine how bad it would be if we were 4/5 down after 40 and had a bad 10 overs. England will end up with a decent score, because despite most of the middle and lower order failing, they had a really good first 45 overs, and might even be able to get an alright last over or two because they've still got a specialist batsman at the crease.

Ooh that's a sweet shot from an unexpected bat

I meant the Broad 4 off Malinga, I still think Ravi should hit the other bloke

Actually do ya think Trott may have been the one to convince Cook it was a good appeal, in case maybe a genuine #trottsfault.

And if you go too hard early on you're relying on your middle/lower order to do a lot of work.

I recognise you're not really arguing otherwise btw. I'm just waffling ideas.

58 off the slinger; you'd take it, wouldn't you?

Still think we're twenty shy of where we coulda been.

Although that's helped; bit hit from Ravinder. Length in the fiftieth is fail.

& then a 4.

Good stuff from Scaly's BF.

Where the **** has this Ravi come from?

I almost fully take back my previous grumblings, this is some of the best death batting you'll see.
