Trott gets out for 30 and not a word is said IMO. Just gets lumped in with a general 'abject batting performance' the bloke has the temerity to score sum runs and it's his fault.

It's been pretty obvious that Trott was always going to do what Trott does but nobody held up their side of the bargain. Root, Bell and Buttler to play the shots while Trott keeps it moving. It would've been pretty damn irresponsible if we just tried to slog at 10 an over from both ends.

It's been a silly discussion then, Trotts innings is perfectly fine in context, if we had people scoring well at the other end, we'd be in with half-a-chance of getting a very hard total, which was from some ****ing awful bowling.

A lot of people deserve a shooting after today but that lower-middle order performance in particular is staggeringly inept on such a road.

Point being, it's Trott's job to score at that rate and the rest of them are meant to score a hell of a lot quicker.

Right, so we aren't criticising Bell, Cook and Root enough. That's pretty much the problem. Even though TH specifically brought up Trott which is why we were discussing him. And we didn't respond to TH talking about Trott by talking about Dernbach.

Next time I'll make sure to point out how **** everyone has been.

The match has been dead for 20 overs, and a debate started about a player. Its so obvious that the rest of the players have sucked. Why even mention it? There's no discussion!

It happens all the time in big chases. They see the huge RRR and panic, as simple as that.

We've thought that on many occasions, and I still reckon they think he's a t-20 specialist, even though he's pretty **** at that too.

I'm happy with people disagreeing with Spark, PEWS, myself and whoever else thinks Trott hasn't played this exactly well. But to completely misrepresent what we are saying is a bit unnecessary. We aren't referring to his knock in 2011 or whatever, and we're not blaming him for the loss. England's batting lineup without KP is ****house in general if their bowlers don't perform.

Well, imho - and I really find it quite simple - this particular innings of England isn't great indeed. But if any England batsman is not responsible for that, it is Trott. I really find it hard to argue with it!

TH was talking about Trott to watch etc earlier and then you said this:

Yes I know SA chased 434 with Kallis but Kallis is Kallis! The fact is they had Dipenaar go out early which was the biggest blessing ever.

Surely you acknowledge that in a chase of 360 Trott has too bat quicker, just like the rest of the batsmen too as well?

Anyway I'll leave it here since Trott is about to ton up and it'd be lame to discuss it in a negative point.
