Luis Suarez confirms he wants to leave Liverpool.
Club's given a statement saying there has been no contact and that they're not going to sell him either way.

Personally, I'm behind the club to **** him off now for as much as possible. It doesn't bother me that a player of his ability wants to play at the highest level but his excuses about the media sound like him fishing for a way to leave without pissing off the fans. It's dishonest - if you want to go, say you want to go, don't piss on the fans that backed you all the way. It's also dishonest in that he brings it on himself as well.

Yeah it's almost as if he's a bit of a dick.

I think they will still sell him. The "not for sale" comments from a club are usually just an effort to keep the price up. Everyone does it.

I just hope it means that either the buy-out clause is non-existant or that it is high enough that they can posture like that for a good price. Losing Suarez would hit us big, so we'll need to be able to buy a quality player if he goes.

John Barnes interview: The England star of the Maracana is still fighting for a higher goal - International - Football - The Independent

He accepts that his time at Tranmere, where he lasted just 11 league games, was a bad one but he believes he would have been given longer had he been white. "It's true, if I had won enough matches I still would have been in the job. But I can lose fewer matches than a white manager, a Scottish manager, a Spanish manager and be sacked. If you are successful, racism doesn't come into it. The abuse [in his playing career] will not exist if you do well. But if you are crap it will exist.

"What I say to the Tranmere fans is that I know for a fact that a white manager would have been given longer to lose and to fail. I was third from bottom and it was 9 October when I was sacked. The season was two months old. A white manager would have been sacked in December, but he would have been sacked after me."
Absolutely disgraceful comments, without basis.

Should probably ask for cash and player(s) as part of deal as Real have plenty of both and there is no guarantee that 'pool will be able to buy anyone decent on the open market if they do sell him

Has Townsend ever spouted anything but crap?

He only needs to look at Glen Johnson for an international who can't defend.

This is a grim watch. I know it's understandable, because England are just so much the inferior side here, but the way they are just getting everyone behind the ball is just making for a terrible spectacle.
