The catching is just as bad. About half a dozen dropped chances in this match. :@
Napier was dropped 3 times at least, I understand. On 9, in the thirties and as he approached his hundred. Take those catches and Lancashire are in the lead.

First 50 ever for briggs, if he could add batting to his CV, would really help him push past the likes of Monty and Kerrigan in the England reckoning.

Oh he's out as I'm writing this typical....

Essex lead up to 244 now with Mickleburgh bringing up his half-century. All set up for Saj to run through Lancs in their second innings!!!!

Weather the main winner in the CC games today and the YB40 fixture between Surrey and Durham. But before the band of inclement weather moved across the nation Essex had gained control over Lancashire with a healthy lead in excess of 250 but just a day to go. Skipper James Foster must ensure his declaration is well timed to give them an opportunity of bowling Lancs out, while ensuring they're ahead enough in the game so that Katich, Prince and co. cannot chase the target down.

Save for something ridiculous the game at Headingley is heading for a certain draw with Yorkshire all over Somerset following Adil Rashid's outstanding innings with top support from Gary Ballance. Rashid even rediscovered some of his magic leg-spin touch with a couple of wickets today. The talk of whether he will be appearing back on England's radar is surely far too premature.

Only 33 overs possible between Hants and Gloucester but that was enough for Hants to resurrect their innings thanks to a 128-run partnership between Jimmy Adams and Danny Briggs for the 9th wicket, and the current 10th wicket partnership stands at a frustrating 39, with number 11 James Tomlinson 1* off 47 balls! Gloucester's shortage of bowling options being seriously exposed, not helped by an injury to Will Gidman during this innings, but still credit to Hants skipper Adams who is still unbeaten on 129as Hants reached 264-9.

The star of the show at Edgbaston was undoubtedly Sam Robson who is 215 not out. The Aussie born opener is in sparkling form this season and is feasting on very much a weakened Warwickshire bowling attack. Middlesex ended day two on 428-5.

Classy Sri Lankan Thilan Samaraweera has been the mainstay of the Worcester innings accumulating 92 unbeaten runs while Leicester off-spinner Jigar Naik picked up five wickets in an innings for the fifth time in his first-class career. Worcester finished today on 294-7.

Jason Roy struck his third List A century but it was all in vein as the rain came in after Surrey were bowled out for 216 against Durham.

The only other game of any interest was the England Lions taking on the tourists New Zealand. Hamish Rutherford demonstrated his belligerent style with a century, it seems only Graham Onions did himself any justice with the ball taking 1-23 off eight overs. NZ scored at in excess of four runs per over for the day making 184-3 off 44 overs an indication the Lions struggled to hit decent areas consistently enough. Let's hope for an improvement tomorrow!

Probaly a big day for Finn today. He's not meant to have bowled well this season so far. At least Onions, Tremlett and Bresnan are all playing at the moment to give the selectors options. None of them have done particularly well.

Onions 18w @ 27
Finn 7w @ 26.85
Tremlett 4w @ 51.75
Bresnan 11w @ 27.63

Looking at that they've all been kind of disappointing. Even Onions who is meant to be the better bowler in early season conditions especially at CLS is kinda average.

Yeah did you hear what Rogers said to Nass on Sky last Monday? Asked whether he was getting one over Finn in the nets before the Ashes, Rogers replied with something along the lines of "The way Finnys bowling right now, I'd fancy my chances (of making runs against him in the Ashes)".

Yeah, it's been a tad disappointing from the blokes gunning for that 3rd seamer spot, though. Competition for places is good, but not really when there's competition because everyone has been average. If Onions had started this season like he did last, I reckon he'd be a shoe in for the New Zealand tests. I'd still play him against NZ though. At least if he fails they can say they tried him. As it is, he's only had one test since Cape Town, and he was our best bowler in that one. Guy deserves another shot.
