Somerset win the toss and bat, perfect. Probably going to be a decent track despite a decent covering of grass, Trescothick had no doubts about trying to stick a total on the board first up. Wright, Woakes, Hannon-Dalby against Tres, Compton, Petersen first up, should be great viewing.

Both Overtons are playing, should be interesting, Somerset bat first though, so we'll see Woakes&Wright in action first.

Pretty unimpressive opening burst from Chris Wright, figures of 7-0-31-0. Expected him to be closer to 85mph and swinging the ball away from the right-hander, instead he generally hovered around 80mph with the odd ball shaping away and not quite the control that Woakes has bowled with.

Trescothick has just struggled a little to get going but has got through the first hour and may well push on here with him finding his fluency as his innings progresses. Compton has been typically organised, and worked the ball away well when the bowlers have erred a little too straight.

What sort of pace is Woakes operating at, and is he getting it to move around much?
Woakes was probably a shade quicker than Wright, early 80's on average. He was getting a hint of movement, generally away from the left hander, and did bowl with good control. Be interesting to see how his other spells go today.

Well those two wickets rather change things, clear inside edge there though.
Yes those two wickets bring the game closer to being in the balance at lunch. Trescothick's was a close call and to me in real time did look out (Hawkeye suggesting it just clipped the top of the stumps) as did Compton's but the replays there show he was extremely unlucky with a quite healthy inside edge unable to save him from Nick Cook's finger of doom.

James Hildreth in now with Alviro Petersen and he played a lovely drive through the off side off Clarke just before lunch, there is some away swing from Clarke and plenty of slips in place but Hildreth just timed it beautifully through the cover region.

Yep, doing to Gloucs what they did to Essex last week. Were 283-8, now on the verge of 400. I see that their keeper, David Murphy played four times for Scotland in March, I missed that! Willey was dropped a place to number 9 despite scoring 76 which shows how strong they are in the lower order. This year's surprise package, perhaps?

And that's 5 and a run out for Onions.

If Finn is a better Test bowler in England than Onions right now I'll stand jumping in Binns' front window.

Didn't Finn take five last week? Anyway nice to see a few England bowlers in a groove.

Tremlett not doing much though:(

HEY, Scaly, I see Plunkers is batting for Yorkshire, what happened to your campaign to get him in the England side?

Bowled 16 overs though and that is the main thing right now.

Another excellent day for Hampshire.

Anderson and Broad both took 4 for 57 I see. James Taylor looking for a big score to kick-start his season after a rather up-and-down 2012. Some pretty grim fare at Old Trafford. And perhaps an upset at Leicester? Bowled out for 181 by Leeds & Bradford, they'll have to do a lot better to avoid embarrassment tomorrow. Luis Reece was the star of their demolition of Sussex last year; today the Lancs 2nds and Unicorns player made 114. One to watch, perhaps.

It looks like Adams is out of the game, so there might still be hope for Derbyshire, one between Madsen and Durston is due one (I don't expect much from the rest of the batsmen), if Chanderpaul and the tail gets going again a draw is on the cards, just survive the first spell by Broad, I doubt that England will let Notts to bowl him too much.

Mind, Nottinghamshire are still heavy favourites.
