Doesn't Williamson get on quite well with Taylor too? I highly doubt Ross has any major beef with the team, it's strictly a management problem.
He was chatting with McCullum basically the entire time they were in field as well.God there's some trash speculation floating about on sports radio atm. Regarding Taylor's two catches at the end of the match people are saying that the fact that that the team coalesced around Williamson, rather than Taylor is a sign that no one wants him in the team. Newsflash: unless it's a freak catch, fielders generally move to congratulate the bowler rather than the fielder. Ugh.
I thought that too. He was talking to Baz aplenty. He was chatting with McCullum basically the entire time they were in field as well.
Yeah - I thought about just posting in this thread "I don't care". But I do.Totally different, I know, but I hope the Jesse situation puts all this into perspective.
Taylor would probably delve into a confiding answer whenever any interview runs long enough tbh, although I'm not sure here. There was a bit in the last interview with these guys (the Nathan McCullum captaincy bit) where Taylor clearly had the question put up on a tee for him.I get the feeling that sometimes Taylor is just too blunt.
Good morning guys.. there is only one story for me today. Get ready for the whole "taylor captaincy saga" to ignite today. John Parker has released the findings of the captains meeting held at Eden Park. It does not read well for several parties, including McCullum, Hesson and senior players who are accused of putting their own agendas ahead of the team. I hoped to bury this story.. but now I can only see it going one way.. the public debate is about to get nasty.. and heads may roll. I will give you all the oil this morning on radio sport.
Document released on Ross Taylor affair - Latest News - New Zealand's Premier Just Sport Station - Radio SportA group of former New Zealand cricketers and coaches have compiled a nine page document on the Ross Taylor affair, as the fall-out continues months after he was dumped as Black Caps captain.
The report features 77 bullet points detailing what they believe led to Taylor's demotion and the events that have followed it.
The major accusation in the document is that it's claimed Brendon McCullum knew all along of Mike Hesson's move to out Taylor as skipper.
Former test batsman John Parker says a group of ex-players met with New Zealand Cricket last week and identified a conflict of interest over the Hesson appointment.
Parker says Stephen Fleming has admitted that he shouldn't have been on the panel that appointed him.
Former players are challenging the governance of New Zealand Cricket.
Really fascinating stuff if it's true. Matches up with the rumours that Bond's letter also discussed the culture of mediocrity and lack of effort within the side. Still think it's not the right time for it to be aired in public though...The report says that on the tour of Sri Lanka Taylor was told by coach Mike Hesson and management that he would not be captain for the Test series and no-one within the setup supported or rated him. But the most damming piece of information, according to the report, is that current captain Brendon McCullum knew all along of Taylor's demotion despite denying he had any part of it.
The report also outlines that the Black Caps had developed a clear division between the younger and older players. The older players - who included Daniel Vettori, Jacob Oram, Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills - were all behind McCullum becoming captain and were anti-Taylor because of his lack of communication. Sources close to Taylor and others who have been part of the team in various roles say this was in fact the older players saying he would not drink with them in the bar.
The younger players, conversely, were very pleased with Taylor and enjoyed his stance on socialising together and the increased focus on practice. One young player, who isn't named, objected to the continual ridicule he got from this group of older players for wanting to practice more.
According to the report, Taylor made it clear to coach Mike Hesson that he didn't want some of the older brigade on the tour of Sri Lanka and it was the ideal chance to blood the new generation. This appeared to be accepted initially by Hesson until three days before the team was announced and the coach rang Taylor and said all the older players would be going on the tour apart from the injured Vettori.
These events, which led to Taylor's demotion, were the last straw as far as the former captains were concerned and they hope this report can change the structure of New Zealand Cricket.

And here is why we are eighth in the world people. One young player, who isn't named, objected to the continual ridicule he got from this group of older players for wanting to practice more.
This also reinforces the idea that a split captaincy might've worked had anyone seriously considered it. All of the older players mentioned in this document are ODI specialists, with the exception of Vettori who probably will soon be an ODI specialist due to his ongoing injury concerns. The test team, on the other hand, is largely made up of u25's and a couple of older heads who are nonetheless still new to international cricket (McCullum, Taylor and now Fulton being the only obvious exceptions). And here is why we are eighth in the world people.
All those older players apart from Mills were expendable. Oram is a crock who hasn't done anything since 2009, Vettori is a batsman pretending to be a spinner and NcCullum just isn't very good.
Pretty surprising NZC bowed to the wishes of a bunch of ODI specialists who will be retiring very soon. Oram is already gone.
Now I'm going to try and forget he played for CD. Became pretty unlikeable towards the end with his rubbishness and now this.
Anyway, it's done and won't change. Most of the team loves Taylor and McCullum has had success as captain. Lets dump Hesson off a cliff and move on to our next 6 month coach.
If Taylor did ask Hesson to drop NcCullum and Mills, then his dumping as captain would be more understandable. Mills is one of our greatest ever ODI bowlers, and NcCullum while fairly ordinary in ODI's, has had no serious challengers since Vettori's decision to stand down from ODI cricket. Not sure if that's what the article is saying though. So Taylor asked him to drop Jacob Oram, Nathan McCullum and Kyle Mills? ITSTL.

The only one I would have cared about is Kyle Mills. Dropping him would have been a bit ridiculous. And here is why we are eighth in the world people.
