Haha, fully agree on Boycott's comments on Southee. He was really just ambling in during his run-up. Was bowling well within himself. Didn't sound like he was generating any kind of consistent swing either.
Any talk about him potentially carrying a slight injury?

Woke up at 4.30 am this morning and the TV options were Compton/Trott batting or a repeat of Balamory with my 2 yo

Hell by any other name

Boult was really frustrating. He was visibly the quickest of the three seamers, and produced the most false shots/edges/lbw shouts. As a result, without thinking about things too much, I felt that he was the best of the bowlers on display. But then I stopped and looked at his figures and realised that he was being biffed around at 4+ runs per over for most of the day, primarily because he produced a lot of leg side filth, and an equal amount of short ****.
Been hearing this for a while, looks like the new zealanders have found their own Ishant Sharma. Unlucky, but should bowl a bit füller.

Am hoping we see a few hours of KP today to bump the run rate up after another solid platform has been set by the top three. Martin has been economical so far, I think today may be a real test for him if KP's still around when he comes on and KP goes on the attack as I imagine he may well do, once established.

Was delighted for Compton again yesterday, thought in the morning session he looked very good and I toddled off to bed confident he could fill his boots again. Looked far more fluent than he has, from what I saw he played a couple of crunching hooks and very pleasing drives.

Be interesting how the NZ attack shapes up today, if they were lethargic yesterday after the last Test, then today could be worse still after another long day in the field and the thought of another eight wickets to take. Mentally could be a tough one for Southee and co.

Yes Boulteh!

Must be a weird feeling for Trott. Yes I got a hundred! Oh crap I'm out first ball today.

I was hoping we'd see some of that from KP in the last hour yesterday, but he was poor. Something's up with him.
An out of sorts KP is never fun to watch, not worried though he could easily be looking fantastic by lunch.

Not an ideal start today but I fancy a Prior run a ball 80 later.

Not necessarily the worst thing from a spectator's viewpoint, provided Bell, KP and the others get stuck into the bowling; as well as Trott played yesterday he does take a while to get going.
