This was very tough. I was very confused between an opener and Mahmood but had to go for the bowler as the clauses we have opted for supports batsmen more than bowlers.

This will interesting if kyear and Jager select the same player at the same time. Who gets to keep him?

The race is on!

Marcus you're gonna need to change your pick remember
You'll need to give a coherent reason why Jager. There is quite a lot of biographical data on Laker in Fred's essay, despite not being a biographical piece per se. Consequently it would be finicky to reject it.

However, the same cannot be said about the article you selected for Barry Richards. From a memory it contained little more than a paragraph about Richards because most of it was about the entire South African team of the early 70s.

(But I can see where you are both coming from.....).

My pick was far worse (I didn't actually read it all because I was tired, I just searched for "Procter" and saw it appeared ~20 times all throughout the piece so I presumed it was close enough.

The clause specifically states it needs to be a biography, not a recap of a player's finest moment with some background story to the man.

Yes I understand. But Marcuss won't be on-line for some hours because it's currently 3 am in the UK. In the meantime, anything up to 8 players will have been picked and therefore unavailable. If there is a problem with a selection then it really needs to be 'nipped in the bud' quickly so as to avoid extra heart-ache. Of course, if you had an 'iron-clad case' then things would be different; like Fred's piece was about flower arranging or something. But you don't.

I think it's now a case of the 'horse has bolted'.

(My apologies for the use of two or three awful cliches)

Still needs to change it, I didn't get on CW for a long period of time after my Richards pick but it was obviously not good enough
