***Official*** England in New Zealand series 2013

A lot of praise for our bowlers on the Cricinfo live comm

So that ends one of the worst batting displays by England for some time. On a fine wicket against a modest attack they have capitulated to an embarrassing score that has put them right behind the eight ball against a side that they were expected to run all over.
But New Zealand have proved they are tougher than that and bowled persistently and plugged away well but didn't produce enough quality to bowl a side out for 167.

Sufficient quality to get this England team out for 167 though.
It's cricinfo: they exist to masturbate to the whims of several particular markets. It's not just NZ that cop lazy journalism: every time South Africa lose a game they've choked, and the ideas behind many cricinfo features can often be sourced to a certain other cricket website.

It's standard practice from them. Nothing to keep getting wound up about.

Don't worry, if NZ somehow do win this they will receive about as much credit from the English media as they received after winning the 1999 series, and after winning the Kyle Mills benefit test at home in 2008.
Speaking of which, that 2008 loss was the kick up the arse that caused England to make a few changes and spurred them onward to their good years since.

You guys should be thanking us.

Not content with their performance during England's innings, the gods of random blind luck have now allowed both our openers to get off the mark.

Yeah, so Anderson and Broad have come full circle. But if you drop them (as is usual practise to drop bowlers when the batsmen fail) you get the earth shaking duo of Onions and Woakes.... hmm maybe next tour

I don't rate Finn and I'm worried about Monty being rusty.
I know I am probably falling into the trap of judging on ODI performances but I really liked the look of Finn with his shorter run-up, think it will be a breakthrough series with the red ball.
