30 Test hundreds

I really hope that Azhar Ali and Darren Bravo get up to somewhere around the 15 to 20 mark. Both batsman are really enjoyable to watch.

They are definitely the two batsman who are quite new to Test Cricket who I think can have long, successful careers. I would add Usman Khawaja to the list also, if/when he gets back into the team.

So as expected, Sanga and Jaya haved entered the prestigious club.

Current count:

27 - Chanderpaul is agonizingly close, hope he gets there.
26 - Smith
23 - Clarke and Cook, both certainties the way things are going for them. Sehwag is highly unlikely.
22 - Pietersen
19 - Amla will easily get there
17 - Bell

From the young guys mentioned in the thread

4 - Kohli, Bravo, Ali
3 - Pujara, Hughes, Williamson
1 - Akmal
0 - Usman Khawaja, Tim Paine (lol)

I may shed a few tears if Chanders doesn't get there. Two tests against Zimbabwe can't hurt. Clarke with his recent form is almost a certainty,

What odds would people offer on Warner making 30 test hundreds?

Clarke, Amla and Cook are going to get there no doubt. The way Clarke's going he'll get there next year :p
From the young brigade, Pujara and Kohli seem to be the prime contenders, which is awesome for Indian cricket... our middle order looks very very good for the near future. Among the others, i dont think Williamson's THAT good to be honest. Gonna go out on a limb here and say he'll only end up with around 15-20
Pietersen could get there if he plays a while, and maintains his awesome form. Frankly though, i think i'll honestly end up rating him as the best of this generation if he keeps going like this. So many of his hundreds so far have been brilliant, match-turning spectaculars.

Hmmm... tough to say...Very early days, but he's shown he has the ability to get quick runs like Sehwag, but he's also played a great innings on a not so easy pitch in Hobart, very much unlike Sehwag If i had to take a guess Id put him in the around 25 century bracket.

Smith still has 5 good years in him so he should easily get there. Better odds than Chanderpaul IMO who is older than any active test cricket except Tendulkar and maybe Misbah.

Pietersen has a good chance given he tends to have gun innings about three times+ a year, don't really see Bell and Sehwag getting there.

Dunno about that. His technique is such that when it goes wrong for him it'll go really wrong and I just get the slight impression that he'll be the guy who says "yeah, that's enough for me" once he's achieved everything he wants to achieve. I mean I'm pretty sure there were vague whispers about retirement not that long ago.

Team-wise there can't be a lot left for Smith to achieve, other than ICC event success and wins in a couple of countries?

As most predicted Sangakkara, Jayawardene and Chanderpaul made the mark (only just in Chanders' case) before retiring. Younis Khan has made it to 31 while Cook only has one more to get. Amla is on 25 hundreds.

Several of the players mentioned here as certainties didn't make it including Clarke (28), G Smith (27), Pietersen/Sehwag (23) and Bell (22). AB De Villiers with 21 tons at the age of 32 may be falling off the pace too.

The big four right now - S Smith 14, Williamson 13, Kohli 12 and Root 10.

Other players mentioned in this thread:

Dave Warner* - up to 16 tons
Azhar Ali - 9
Darren Bravo - 7
Angelo Mathews - 7
Che Pujara - 7
Usman Khawaja - 4
Umar Akmal - 1
Tim Paine - 0

*only mentioned after the bump in 2013

Crazy how the two most likely to reach there first imo (Root and Smith) didn't even have a ton at the time this was last bumped.

SA need to play more Tests. Would be pretty disappointed if Amla and AB didn't get there.

Why is root more likely than Kohli?
Indian pitches, assuming they are prepared (uncultured people may say 'doctored') like they have been recently for the foreseeable future would mean it's hard for Kohli to ton up as often at home.
