People can rightly criticise the Oz top order for the way that they have played spin but Sehwag and Pujara havent exactly inspired confidence
Pujara's knock at Mumbai on a turner vs. Monty and Swann suggests he can play spin. A little bit different to Hughes and Cowan...

Well played India. Comprehensive win that. Kudos to Dhoni, a great knock when his side really needed it. Our blokes with a lot of work to do, and quick smart too. Not sure the players we have here can do much better, except I'd play Steve Rixon over Wade.

The customary Ashwin stat update:

75 wickets @ 29.8 and 598 runs @ 42.8 in 13 tests.

Such a massive MVP.

Reports that Dhoni things Gambhir is a **** and doesn't want him in the team could be accurate...
I wouldn't be surprised if it is. But there were reports of Dhoni being unhappy with Sehwag's work ethic too. Just get the feeling he doesn't care, whether it's slip fielding, batting, or running between the wickets. But I guess it comes down to the fact that Sehwag is a bigger name and harder to drop, etc.

I think that's a bit different though. Dhoni thinks it'd be nice to get a bit more professionalism from Sehwag, but he has a dartboard with Gambhir's image superimposed over it at home. He's made it pretty obvious over the last year that he really doesn't like him at all IMO, whereas Sehwag just frustrates him a bit as a cricketer.

Drop him imo.
I know you jest but do you really want a repeat of this? :p

Indian cricketer performances in this calender year:

Pujara - 654 runs @ 81.75
Ashwin - 414 runs @ 51.75
Kohli - 689 runs @ 49.21
Dhoni - 447 runs @ 40.6
Gambhir - 474 runs @ 31.6
Tendulkar - 357 runs @ 21.8

Ohja - 33 wickets @ 25.9
Ashwin - 37 wickets @ 37.1
Yadav - 16 wickets @ 42.1
Zaheer - 15 wickets @ 49.2
Sharma - 7 wickets @ 75.7

Ban him from all cricket. Exile him to Sudan.
Ashwin test career so far:

12 matches
63 wickets @ 31.9
596 runs @ 45.8

DROP THE ****ER! VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
Amit Mishra and Piyush ****ing Chawla, I assume to bowl them attacking lengths.

India has to face up to the harsh truth that their best three players at the moment are Pujara, Kohli and Ashwin. It makes little to no sense to frantically knee-jerk and drop them.

It's also awesome because we have three young players to form a 'core' around. If one of Rohit/Rahane clicks then we can really move ahead with this.

Only a real ****wit selection committee would drop any of these three for one bad series.

Still can't believe India can't see the bleeding obvious that Rahane has to be tried as a test opener.

He's a far better player than Vijay and Dhawan IMO.

Just looking at the live career averages of our top six:

Cowan 32
Warner 44
Hughes 34
Watson 36
Clarke 53
Wade 37

Pretty damning really, and the sad thing is that there’s no real glaring omission from the top six. There’s no batsman that you could say is genuinely unlucky not be there. Even Usman has only been modest this Summer. I would however consider bringing him in for Cowan. I think we’ve seen a big enough sample of Ed (14 Tests for an average of 32). Usman did open in the tour games, and is suited to opening. Moreover, he at least has more scope for improvement than the incumbent

With the bowling, I think it’s still our strong suit but we’ve been a little spoiled by responsive pitches – with Siddle and Starc probably being a little exposed on pitches that are not responsive. They are fine bowlers, but perhaps not quite top shelf. Pattinson is a star though, and we also at least need to have a look at O’Keefe, and certainly another look at Bird.
