I see you're not familiar with Bellerive Oval.
I see you're not familiar with NZ's green seaming decks. Haha wow, this is too easy dude seriously. And you're a moderator? I legitimately thought it was a troll at first and cursed myself for biting at it but now...wow, your'e actually for real.

And yeah vicky I agree with you that those Pak and Windies attacks are about as good as the Tas attack I listed. But that's my point! ...That the TAS attack was as good as those typically fielded by most of the Test teams, and hence to score 161no against them was a legitimately good innings, not a bullying effort against a weak attack.

Anyway, cheers for the debate, it's time to go outside and enjoy this lovely European sun

This has to be some sort of joke, surely?

Come on. Have you seen them bowl?
I actually quite like Bird and Butterworth. I really only just took offence to the First Class averages of James Faulkner and Adam ****ing Maher (which Ronan has thankfully started leaving out of his analysis) being used as genuine points of debate.

You obviously can't dismiss a bowler off hand just because he plays for Tasmania, but... context is certainly required. Henriques himself is a better bowler than Adam Maher.

On a day 5 pitch which is being breaking up, I reckon 100 will be a stiff chase. Henriques needs to hang in there for 60+ runs more and Patto/Lyon can make a match out of it.

However most probably the match will get over in the first hour tomorrow.

I don't really care about the exact quality of the Tasmanian fast bowler's attack. I do think, however, Mr Ronan has a point when he states the Portuguese cricketer has proven on earlier occasions he can hold a bat properly.

It only makes clear how weak the rest of the Aus bating line up is, compared to a few years back. Apart from Clarke, not too many would be considered in the Eng, SA or even the Indian line up, I guess.

I also think the Aussies are bowler heavy. Just a theory, but wouldn't MHUssey for any bowler (not Pattinson) make Aus stronger?

I'd like to agree. But it's always wishful thinking when you expect the last pair to score another 50, and at the same feel scoring a 100 for a complete innings is a tough task.......

So yeah, probably over within the hour!

It is improbable, but given our test performances in the recent past, wouldn't call it impossible.

There is a lot of talk on cricinfo and other cricket sites about the need to drop Cowan. While he clearly hasn't nailed down his spot yet, he has 212 runs at 42 on the tour so far and I thought looked pretty solid in both innings here before throwing away good starts.

If we had to drop a batsman, it would have to be Hughes, who has just 26 runs from 4 digs so far and looked less comfortable against spin.

The stats show that over his career Ashwin averages like 21 vs left handers as opposed to about 37 vs right handers so its a pity we don't have a solid right handed back up option. Smith has plenty of talent but his form the past 2 Shield seasons has been pretty ordinary.

You'd imagine that Doherty will get a run in the next game, most likely at the expense of Starc. Clarke and the selectors seem to adore siddle because of his never-say-die approach and his experience. I think they'd be reticent to field an attack of starc, pattinson, doherty and lyon in such a pressure-packed game, given that combined they have only played 37 Tests, which is the same Siddle has played alone.

I hate kneejerk changes based on one Test but I think it's clear Clarke has to bat 4, even if only for this series.

Why is c Guptill b Martin back in the squad anyway? The only player I have seen getting out caught behind and in slips more often is Upul Tharanga

Whatever it takes!!!
Naw, they'll bring in Doherty and/or Smith as extra spinners and turn in all round.

The fact that this is not something out of the realms of possibility shows how bad India is currently.. In all this talk of how bad Australia are, lets not forget that India are not any better either. We still have not won this test, leave alone this series and as England showed, we are as vulnerable against good spin bowling as any side visiting us. And that is just plain sad...

Would it hurt the crowd to acknowledge a good shot? Sounds like a funeral everything a boundary is hit.

So happy for Moz.
Clarke got a great ovation for his 100, tbh.. Could just be a case of the crowd just waiting to celebrate the last wicket and going home happy and hence not caring about the batting at that point.

But tbf, since the IPL, the crowds in India are getting less sportive everywhere.. :(
