Called it at the end of day 2, but even then I didn't expect him doing this well. Top innings. Can totally see Dhoni doing well on this wicket.

Dhoni is not bad against bounce at all. It's weakness of his other teammates (Gambhir, Raina etc) that gets extended to him by people. If you actually observe him he is pretty solid against short ball, plays pull shot very well. His problems are against the moving ball.Dhoni's problem is with bounce and movement (not pace per se) so in that regard, this is the perfect place for him to face Pattinson
It's nothing about concentration, he simply has a very dodgy techniqueAnd Dhoni's other issues in test cricket have been mental. He doesn't apply himself and didn't concentrate as hard in the long form. It doesn't come naturally to him.
No wayNeed another 50 runs to even feel safe, tbh..
nah I think it's already enoughNeed another 50 runs to even feel safe, tbh..
Spot on. The game is the richer for a player like him mind you but lets not pretend he gives anything but his 110 percent every time he plays. The results he gets are the best he can and they are magnificent considering his dodgy technique as is marvelously understated here. In fact, he must concentrate harder, much harder , than the man with solid technique to overcome his technical deficiencies. That he does so is marvelous and he is a credit to that boy in the street so aptly used as an analogy. More power to him. It's nothing about concentration, he simply has a very dodgy technique
As someone said earlier today, one of the nice things about watching him play is that you can imagine him playing the same way on the street as a kid
Lack of concentration doesn't help, he spent the entire tour of England playing ridiculous shots to get himself out. It's nothing about concentration, he simply has a very dodgy technique

Forgotten about Ishant being sawn off before that?Let's see if Australia can roll India in the morning, bat well and turn this into a thriller like the first Test of the corresponding series in 2010.
Except lets hope they don't again get robbed by the refusal of a plumb LBW with just a few runs to defend like in 2010!!!
Hahaha yeah I remember that clearly was going way down leg...not to mention the fact that Gambhir was out LBW in the first over of the chase when he hit the cover off it!!Forgotten about Ishant being sawn off before that?
It was. Chennai gets thrillers more often than not as well. But I fear that this match might peter out to a dull result unless one of the sides bats badly or Pattinson bowls a great spell. Pitches in India have by and large simply not broken up on the 4th and 5th days in the recent past.Hahaha yeah I remember that clearly was going way down leg...not to mention the fact that Gambhir was out LBW in the first over of the chase when he hit the cover off it!!
That was an awesome game. Fingers crossed for a repeat (except with a different result!)
