You know that innings he played on the fifth day of the fifth test in the 2005 Ashes series? That's why.How Giles ever played Tests is the real puzzle...one of the worst international spinners I've ever seen.
Bingo.Played the two warm up games.
He's just not that good, that's the thing.
Tour Match: India A v Australians at Chennai, Feb 16-18, 2013 | Cricket Scorecard | ESPN CricinfoHe played one of the tour games, but he only bowled eleven (wicketless) overs in it.
EDIT: Apparently he played the second one too; didn't even remember him doing so. Took 1/40.
awta. Got much flatter and shorter.Does anybody think Lyon has got worse as a bowler in the last year?
Doesn't get the same loop he used too, now it's all a bit flat.
the true leader of the attackBingo.
I'd leave him out for Ryan Harris if/when fit.
Contractually obliged to flatter Indian players.Border loves my boy Virat
Isn't that Midge Johnson?!the true leader of the attack
This is a good post.Lyon is bowling flat flat flat loop. Where it should be loop loop loop flat.
Yeah but the occasional handy innings doesn't make up for averaging 41 as a frontline Test bowler. FORTY ONE. Would have been better off playing an extra paceman given there was reasonable depth in that area. You know that innings he played on the fifth day of the fifth test in the 2005 Ashes series? That's why.
Was arguably never the best option in bowling terms, but the alternatives weren't that much better to force the selectors' hand. Tuffers was a better bowler, but brought a whole raft of personal issues as well as the uberplop batting and fielding to the table and still averaged high 30s per wicket.
