Went to the game, waste of money tbh. We left early, actually surprised we managed to take five wickets. They only had one when I left. We really need to start getting ruthless with our selections. There's no way Rutherford is a better OD player than Ronchi, and Ellis sure as hell isn't good enough to play internationals. Guptill, Ryder, Mitch, Ronchi -----> next series.

Doull mentioned that on our Sky comm. Averages (he said) something like 46 in FC and 14 in List A, yet gets picked for limited overs.

Sort of ploppy "using the ODIs as audtitions for tests" selection our panel used to specialise in not so very long ago.

Haha, I know. That was the most bizarre half-time entertainment I've ever seen. Not sure who thought that was a good idea.

The other mystery is what went on over in the East Stand - I don't think I've ever seen that many people evicted at the same time before. They almost emptied the stand!

Twelve players have been announced today and another fast bowler will be added to the squad following the New Zealand XI four-day warm-up match against England starting on Wednesday in Queenstown.
BlackCaps head coach Mike Hesson says he is keen to show consistency with his selections by retaining Brownlie, arguably New Zealand’s best Test player in South Africa, and incumbent wicketkeeper Watling.

Hesson says that Fulton retains his spot in the side after some great form for Canterbury – averaging more than 50 in the Plunket Shield.

“We picked Peter to tour South Africa and he would have played there if he hadn’t been injured,” says Hesson.

“That leaves young Hamish and Tom to battle for the other opening spot. They’ve been in good form and are both products of our successful New Zealand A programme.”
