How is that relevant in the slightest? We're talking about Taylor here, not Cook. I've seen Taylor review for inside edges & the like in the past & he goes up in an instant.

Yeah, he's a bits and pieces cricketer at domestic level.

Different story in four day cricket these days to be fair to him but he's never been a good one day cricketer.

The point is, batsman aren't always 100% whether or not they've hit it, contrary to much popular opinion.

Which makes it all the more bizarre. I mean, I can understand putting young guys into the ODI side even if they have a poor List-A record because there's room for improvement and it's about seeing how they handle that level of cricket. Guys like Ellis, who are older, established and know their role, should be picked because they can competently perform in the format they've been chosen in. Ellis has never deserved to be in the ODI side, really.

Not Terrible
McCullum has definitely justified him batting at where he wants to down the order in ODIs. With Guptill and Ryder in the ODI team we'd probably have a pretty gun batting lineup right now.

I have no problem with McCullum batting 6 in ODIs. Never have really. I just don't want him at #3-5.

Lol, Smithy really is living on another planet if he thinks England would be overly concerned with this small McCullum counter attack. It's 139/7 on a 280 par pitch.
