Hughes is gonna ton up here. You heard it here first at 13*
At this rate he'll need until 10:15 tonight to do it.

A lot of these new blokes to the odi side seem incapable of rotating strike and having any tempo to an innings.

G Bailey - has to be one of the most underrated going around. Has a great calming presense at the wicket and a steady head on his shoulders. Would have no qualms about him batting 6 in the Test side.
I've never really rated him at all but is under-rated about him is how he's performed so far in the ODI side. Say what you like about whether he should've been picked in the first place but he's been very good since it happened. The talk of him being a "specialist captain" annoys me; Australian cricket is an absolutely no shape to be leaving out a batsman who has performed so decently in his role so far.

Well I"d have Watto replace Marsh.

Since Australia have picked Henriques they should not only give him an extended run in the odi team but bat him at 6.The kid is good enough to bat at 6.
You must be basing this on a hunch because there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that he's capable of even doing up his own pad straps, let alone bat six at any form of the game for Australia.

bailey's gotta miss the T20's. his batting doesn't like right at all and it's probably fair to say the injured wrist is playing it's part

Yeah the specialist captain talk bugs me too - in my mind, he's in our best ODI and T20 XI, and outside of Clarke is far and away the best leader we have so make perfect sense to me that he is skipper when Clarke is out.

Reckon public perception of him is hampered by the fact that start of his ODI career has been away from home rather than in Oz, if he's started in oz with his numbers there would be little to no talk about him.

He's the most accomplished batsman in our lineup and has performed pretty well in ODIs so far.

The "specialist captain" fits in with the "bad batting lineup" narrative well though.

Agreed , the names that have been tossed such as Maxwell, Dussey.Selectors can do a lot worse than select Bailey in the test side.I"d have Khawaja marginally ahead but Bailey definitely should be strongly considered.

At least Bailey can score all around the wicket. Some of the other names that have been tossed up seem incapable of that.

Would much prefer Bailey to Khawaja. Khawaja more asthetically pleasing but mentally a basketcase - Bailey's cool head and knowledge of his own game as important as the runs he makes. Not just about picking the next best bat - its about finding the batsman who will best fill the void we lose from Hussey/Ponting.
