Think Bale is on 80k and while you might not have said anything about him personally, the fact that one is lauded by all and sundry and the other continually criticised (untill this season at least) is somewhat of a double-standard.

Well that's the thing, when everyone around you is paying much more than you are you're going to have to pay slightly more than you wanted to in order to keep players. We're giving him 90k and there's no doubt that had he spoken to Chelsea/City then they'd have offered what we offered RVP.

Yeah, with Pothas completely on this one. Walcott not worth that much of a wage, but Arsenal had little choice but to shell out. If he had been allowed to get away then it would have been absolutely disasterous for the image of the club, and for the morale of the rest of the squad.
Besides, it's not the worst way to spend the wage budget by a long way. At least Theo is actually pretty good. I'd rather the money was spent on someone like him rather than Bendtner, Squillaci, Denilson and Arshavin, who are all still raking in ridiculous pay.

Yeah, when I found out what the latter group of players were receiving, I literally gasped, haha.

This actually makes Arsene Wenger proud. That we have so many players on similar wages. He said it himself, we're a socialist club in terms of wages.
This **** has to end, it's going to be a never ending cycle of any world class players we do have being underpaid while any of the dross we have being overpaid and hard to move.
Arsene's the one who made this happen too. Madness.
