Azha's record at 5 was the main reason I included him in this team. Both Hazare and Azha are average away from home averaging around the 35 mark.

Another all rounder at number six - Vinoo Mankad, and two spinners from (Gupte, Prasanna, Chandra, Bedi) gives a terrific side although the pace attack is not of the class of most ATG sides. The side is always going to be spin heavy which cant be helped with our meager resources even for an ATG side. Of course there is the possibility to get in Amar Singh in place of Mankad and then we have two spinners and three fast medium bowlers plus Hazare.

It appears that Amar Singh could bat a bit too for a bowler;

Would 4 Indian bowlers (pick any) be good enough to bowl another ATG team out twice in a Test match? Many people have their doubts which is why the bowling skills of Mankad become 'essential'.

It is possible to play a specialist fifth bowler but that applies a lot of pressure on Engineer and Dev to score runs at No.6 and No.7 respectively.

But ultimately the whole problem is bought about by the fact that India don't have a Marshall, Lillee, Trueman, or Imran equivalent.

I think that it is time to call the voting to an end as I can't see Azharuddin clawing back the necessary votes to overtake Hazare (Hazare = 10, Azharuddin = 7).

You know who the available batsman and bowlers are, so please select the team's final 2 players. Whether you weight it towards batting or bowling is up to you. Just make the 4th specialist bowler a goodun!

Would have preferred Chandra to either of them but with Kumble already in these two shade it for me

Depending on how this pans out we may have to have another round of voting after the team has been selected to decide on the correct batting order. I don't want to decide on my own whether Engineer opens or not. If you see where I'm coming from.

But we shall see.
