Lol, that saying is getting up there with 'Rotation' and 'Flat backline'He has to earn the right to be aggressive, tbh.
Hundreds by minnows against minnows should not be discounted!Take out Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and Guptil averages 25 after 26 tests with no hundreds.
neither did I, but I am watching on iSky stream. So logged on here to hear some opinions, as the comms not interestedAnd hotspot shows no edge....

There's no one else. Hamish Rutherford might have pushed for a place but he's not hit the runs this season.Take out Zimbabwe and Bangladesh and Guptil averages 25 after 26 tests with no hundreds.
Nah, Southee's only being playing well for a handful of games, and he continues to look vulnerable once the shine wears off. Taylor is proven quality.BTW, anyone else more depressed about losing Southee than Taylor for this Test series considering the way he's been bowling?

Exactly, Southee (of late) give us the ability to get 20 wickets.yeah I guess. With Taylor our batting is still crap, just a little less so.
With Southee bowling the way he was our bowling attack looks good. Without him there's too much resting on Boult.
I didn't know until the comms just said it is. So I guess Guptill thought he hit it.No DRS?
Worse record than Tim McIntosh or Craig Cumming.Would put him in the top echelon of NZ Test openers.
Among fine companyWorse record than Tim McIntosh or Craig Cumming.
Ryder is still our most naturally gifted 'batsman' for mine. Also being a left-hander really helps with the balance of the side.Jesse Ryder being at his peak makes it slightly more depressing.
