very very tempted to choose sanath jayasuriya or shane watson to go in with tendulkar. in the end, i decided to never ever select a team without adam gilchrist and chose him to partner sachin.

Went with Jayasuriya over Gilchrist. Not sure I can justify leaving Gilly out of the XI altogether but for now I'll run with it

Gilchrist and Sachin.

Has been my opening all-time XI odi combo since I started making them and nothing has changed since for me. Would have been cool to see them both play in the Ipl together tile we saw Sachin and Jayasuriya open together.

Tendulkar the obvious choice for his own era's XI.

Couldn't help myself but vote for Nick Knight.

Went with Jayasuriya plus the great one..would like to choose Gilly and Dhoni as well at 6 and 7..Hope they are included as options there...

Watson and Tendulkar get my vote.

Don't see why Gilly would be a chance at the 6 or 7 position, he rarely batted there. Looks like he'll partner Tendulkar anyway.

Pretty happy to see Mark Waugh get a few votes, brilliant opening bat.

gilly getting a little over rated here.....he was a good opener but as a wk bat he is below Dhoni for sure and as an opener below Anwar and Mark Waugh

I vote for Campbell and Tahranga...Oops, Tendulkar and Lara I mean...Oh, Tharanga has taken Lara's place in the poll I see.

Chuck it, I'll vote for Gilchrist and Tendulkar. I'll choose Dhoni later as a specialist no. 6 batsman (assuming Dhoni makes that poll ahead of Robin Singh and Mohammad Ashraful :p ).

purely as an opener gilly is on par with anwar. i would even say he was a tad better. that kind of explosive batting which sets up match winning positions, only gilly produced so often

I went with Hayden to partner Sachin...although in hindsight should have picked someone more explosive like Gayle/Sanath/Gilly.
