lmao, did you just compare Sachin with those guys as fielders? Sachin is a perfectly legit fielder, and GG is fine as well. Sehwag can be casual at times, and yeah Ashwin is crap. But in no way is Sachin a "dinasaur" in the fieldDo India really need a massive dinasaur in the field to go with the rest of them (Ashwin, Gambhir, Sehwag, unamned fast bowler who inevitably can't field)? It might get Sachin back in form but at what consequence to the ODI team as a whole?
Sachin is nigh on 40. He was off the field the last day of the test match with a sore neck and shoulder. He's slow over the ground and diving around now in the field. He was a decent fielder in his time but now he's no more than an old guy who you have to hide away in the field. His batting is not good enough to make up for his shortcomings in the field. 50 overs of throwing himself around in the field and he's gone to be knackered when it comes to his batting. His selection would be a backwards step imo for indian cricket. You just can't have 4 or 5 poor fielders in ODI cricket if you want to compete with the best.lmao, did you just compare Sachin with those guys as fielders? Just look at how he was targeted in the middle of the Cook/Pietersen partnership, they just pushed it towards Tendulkar and set off for an easy single. He was a very good fielder in his youth but age has caught up with him. Still better than Zaheer and Sehwag though to be fair to him.Sachin is nigh on 40. !!!!!!Well... it's 2-2 now.
You can't compare 5 days of test cricket with 50 overs, for a start he'd probably be fielding in the slips for the first 10-15 overs in any case. And he's hardly someone you have to "hide away" in the field. Also on what basis are you saying his batting is not good enough to making up on the field? He's barely played any limited overs cricket over the last few years. Can't use test match failures to judge limited overs performance. India have been ranked top 4 and above for the longest time in limited overs cricket, despite "4 or 5 poor fielders", so India can more than compete with the best (in fact they have been doing so since the last few years).Sachin is nigh on 40.
