Neither is Ashton Turner.
Indeed and if Turner got a game in the Big Bash and I was paid to make comments to a wide audience I wouldn't sit in the box cheerleading all game, calling him for him to bat in the top four or saying he was the x-factor with the ball.

I actually like Mark Waugh as a commentator because he doesn't pull any punches as Kohli_Fan would say but no-one tunes in to listen to his over-state the credentials of a player he wants to cheerlead and then moan when the captain bats him in his rightful position.

Got a bad feeling about Big Ben. Reckon he'll find himself in Victoria full time next season.
I mean if we won't play him in the shield

that said, it's hard to see him getting into the vic team

real black mark on the thunder that they didn't get him. i mean, it's not as if they couldn't offer a top 4 spot

Abbott is totally wasted coming in at 7 in this order. He's a better t20 bat than Rogers, Khawaja and Cosgrove. I've seen him play t20 in the flesh and he's a serious hitter.

they need a better nickname for abbott; 'abbo' isn't cutting it I'm afraid

spikey spitballing about the thunder line-up

thunder squad: Sean Abbott, Cameron Borgas, Ryan Carters, Michael Clarke, Mark Cosgrove, Adam Coyte, Scott Coyte, Luke Doran, Jason Floros (dead I'm afraid), Chris Gayle, Rhett Lockyear, Azhar Mahmood, (til game 4) Dirk Nannes, Gurinder Sandhu, Chris Tremain, Usman Khawaja, Chris Rogers, Martin Guptill (gone), Matt Prior (after game 4), Adam Zampa, Simon Keen (keen for a game)

team from last game:

khawaja
gayle
cosgrove
rogers*
azhar mahmood
abbott
borgas
carters
tremain
doran
dirty dirk

certain inclusions in the team for the next game:

gayle
rogers*
azhar mahmood
ryan carters (+)
luke doran
dirty dirk
chris tremain

ok so quite a bit of the team needs sorting out. cosgrove and usman were really pathetic tonight and really dug the team into a massive hole. and they don't have the greatest t20 records. i'd give cosgrove a chance at 4, move rogers to opening and so remove usman from the team. borgas has been borgas, problem is his replacement would probably be lockyear, so i guess stick with him, but probably move him down to 6 and move carters all the way up to 5. he's shown good hustle, skip, so far.

so we're something like

gayle
rogers
azhar
cosgrove
carters
borgas

but you know you could replace borgas with lockyear or usman and i probably wouldn't care that much

ok so number 7. junior's boy has shown some of his talent so far. but i'm not sure with azhar mahmood and gayle already bowling some overs if a bowling all-rounder is needed at 7. ideally it'd be a batting all-rounder. but keen's about the only guy who could be an option. what's his bowling like lately? anyway, abbott may actually be the best batting all-rounder here anyway. and obv once azhar goes, abbott is back to being a certain selection basically.

at this point it's worth noting we haven't actually replaced usman yet. you could replace him with a batsman like Lockyear. i mean, the problem is batting, so surely you replace the batsman with a batsman? and lockyear can hit 666666. but he's a ****.I kinda wanna play Zampa. Doran gets some quick cheap overs though, but he's not getting wickets. And I think the batting line-up the Thunder sent out last night does have enough talent. ok so it only has two talents, but gayle & mahmood are good! sure rogers/cosgrove/borgas are bummers. but i really don't think adding usman/lockyear will change much. i'd like to take a risk with zampa. the thunder bowling has typically been solid but lacking in wickets. perhaps a leggie might change the attack a bit. and they're not actually gonna win anyway and zampa will entertain me more than usman/lockyear so suck it. the other bowlers pick themselves.

so

gayle
rogers
azhar
cosgrove
carters
borgas or w/ever
keen/abbott
tremain
zampa
doran
nannes

ok so there's a fair amount of bowling there. i forgot about cosgrove being able to break into a jog and send something down. and yeah the problem is the batting. but you know, usman/lockyear/adam coyte...you can dump zampa (and if the next game is at the adl. oval, zampa should be dumped), or dump the all-rounder at 7 for one of those batsmen, you know, just keep those batsmen away from the top 4, but i wouldn't mind it if they sent something like that team out for their next match
