In the last fifteen Test matches, India are 5-9-1. All five victories at home and four of them vs. NZ and WI.

Their losses have been by:

1. 196 runs
2. 319 runs
3. innings and 242
4. innings and 8
5. 122 runs
6. innings and 68
7. innings and 37
8. 298 runs
9. 10 wickets

So 4/9 losses by an innings. One by 10 wickets. And the rest by a margin of 122 or more runs. Yea.

Stats of a side who deserve to be ranked down with WI, NZ, SL and not up with SA, Australia, Pakistan and England at present.

These defeats would be easier to take if they had just revamped the whole team and said we are in transition and stay with us while we regroup but they have made so many excuses and gone with the it'll be alright on the night attitude about playing at home that it won't wash with the fans now.

Fancy us to take the wicket within 3/4 overs tomorrow, usually the way. Good day for us but India have salvaged a fair bit of pride.

This is pretty humiliating for a country with a home record like India has.

Not taking anything away from England, but no other Indian side of the past twenty years would have done this badly at home (say 1990-2010).

You are what your record says you are. And this side is terrible.

Are India THAT terrible? They did see off NZ fairly comfortably, and NZ promptly went and won a test in Sri Lanka. The drop from number one has been fast, and the phasing out of the aging batting stars has been managed pretty terribly. But they're still a middling test side. A while back with defensive bowling and conservative batting (from both sides), middling sides would tend to draw more than they lost against top sides. But in recent times, it feels like far more matches end in a win for one side, and so the results look worse now than used to be the case.

They were pretty dire in England last year and couldn't beat NZ at home so are hardly a top ranked side.

I did leave out Zimbabwe and Bangladesh though so you can put India down there with them if you want?

This should be Dhoni's last series as a Test cricketer in general; I honestly do not think he is worth his place. Won't happen though; he'll continue on as captain IMO.

Probably will, only change will be Fletcher getting the boot. Be virtually the same team against Australia.

This would be a good point, but the losses haven't been close at all. Narrowest margin was 122 runs.

India could have quite easily lost the second test to NZ as well. NZ's failure's against spin and Pujara's excellent form saved them there.

Well, I don't think they'd beat NZ in NZ at the moment. I don't see how they can even post 200 on a regular basis, provided 'typical' NZ pitches. Would they beat SL in SL? I don't think so there either. If India are better than NZ, they aren't better by much.

blackcaps improved with more games in SC. if they were to play india now, it'd be quite close.

If India lose 3-1 I think he's definitely gone. 2-1 I see him maybe hanging on but probably gone

India have been dreadul. It's bad enough to have thin bowling resources and an out-of-touch batting lineup, but the attitude and commitment have been so terrible. Bad communication when running, bad fielding, poor shot selection in difficult situations, defensive fields when put under a little bit on pressure by the batting side, lack of energy or enthusiasm around the field, not even trying to win really.

It's disgusting. It feels like they've all been forced to play, against their will. Excepting Yadav, Kohli, Pujara and Ojha. And Ashwin+Sehwag when they're batting I suppose.

Sachin's showing great commitment and effort, but I can't help feeling that he would have liked to have retired by now in the knowledge that the next gen of cricketers were ready to take over, but since that isn't the case he keeps on batting.
