Eyes not spreadsheets
There are options. Pankaj Singh and Parvinder Awana are amongst the wickets and also decently experienced. I don't believe it is the players, but management that is responsible for poor performances, decline and eventual loss of their best players. While other teams have restored form of flagging players, India have just dumped them, or done nothing to help them out.
That simply doesn't make much sense. It's not the player's faults for being poor but the management's fault for not sticking with them?

Then you suggest names to replace the underperforming players?

So who's fault is it for the overweight and lack of fitness of some of the players?

Well I was just thinking about the prospect of us having to bat again as well. It's all well and good saying they would need to bat out 5 sessions, but realistically you can reduce that a tad if they wipe the lead out, which they certainly have the players to do if they get in.
Don't think there is enough time for them to get enough in front to win now. Not if we bat through today anyway. Should be 160 minimum ahead tonight if they play the full overs out and would take them at least 2 sessions to get them the way the match has been played out.

Add in our attack is better and they could well be looking to avoid an innings defeat as the pitch is turning far more now than on day 1 and early on day 2 when we last bowled.

Tests here go very slow for the first 3 and a half days, and then suddenly come alive. Batting once is definitely the right ploy here. England should just bat as long as possible

Am I the only one still offended by he fact cricinfo still lists Zak as LFM rather than you know something more accurate to his pace.

Totally agree but the odds of an Indian win are probably longer odds than an England innings win at present. Bat today out and if we bat till lunch tomorrow then 250 will be the lead we have.

Variable bounce becoming a bit of an issue now.

Caused the Bell dismissal and the 4 byes just now with low bounce.

Finn might be a handful tomorrow.

England would ideally like to declare 40 minutes before lunch oor 30 minutes after on Day 4.

Sharma tries a bouncer and goes into the stand.

I don't think it's viable to aim to bat until after lunch now. One more wicket and we're into Jimmy, Finn & Monty who won't last long at all.

tbf if we'd been offered a lead of 150 at the start of our innings I'd probably have taken it, even if less than 250 will be disappointing now, given where we were at one stage.

I suppose it is our longest tail for ages but with a 150 lead already it might not matter too much. Be fascinating to see how the England bowlers bowl on this pitch seeing as they restricted India to 316 when it was at it's best for batting. Think India need at least 316 again to stand any chance in this game and that will be very tough on a wearing pitch.

Jimmy os capable of playing a decent late order innings on here.

Finn can hang around - pretty solid blocker.

Even Monty has j=his moments.

The recent stroke play - and what the pitch is now doing - makes me think England reckon they already have enough to really squeeze the game.
