Good. Always felt Ronchi would be a valuable addition in the short-forms, but now beginning think about the Test side. Van Wyk's effectively no different to Dropkins & Young - utterly mediocre - and I doubt Watling's glove-work is quite up to Test standard yet.

I don't want Ronchi to play for NZ tbh.

You did see him just about bowl himself, cause he couldn't read the delivery right?
yeah, but I'm basing it off both innings. overall he's been pretty good technically.

To get the lead you're after I'd bet my money on an U19 reunion, southee and boult using the long handle.

God I hope Ross gets 50+ here so the random Taylor-hate-drop-him faction can go **** themselves. With the beauties Herath is bowling though it will be a struggle.

These people really exist? Can't say I've experienced the Taylor-hate here. I've seen plenty of Taylor-frustration, but not hate.

Would quite like Watling as our keeper if he gets his glovework up to snuff.
Yeah, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree, and frankly if he's not going to keep he should be in the side anyway. I've been really impressed with him in the last 18 months or so.

You think it's sacrilege to replace a South African with an Australian? :p
KvW isn't ideal. I turned a somewhat blind eye because he plays for CD.

Ronchi is a million times worse because he's played ODIs for Australia. That's too far imo. PEWS is going to come in here and **** on about how his nickname is Kiwi and he has a Maori tattoo, but nah, I draw a line at ODIs for another country. It shouldn't happen. He's even more of an opportunist than KvW, who at least plans to stay here for good with his family.

Brownlie was a club cricketer, Elliott was here for years and Wagner turned down numerous offers from CSA to go home. Ronchi just cbf trying to get past Wade and Haddin so he came here after being dropped from the Australian ODI side. I don't want a bar of him and if he plays, I hope he opens as a specialist batsman against SA in SA. We'll see how much pride he has in the silver fern then.

Nah, that's complete bull****. The only reason van Wyk didn't play for South Africa when he lived there was the fact that he wasn't bloody good enough to do so; he wouldn't have knocked them back because he had grand plans to move a country he had absolutely no ties to later in life. His only connection to the country is the fact that he moved there to play cricket ffs, that's much worse than Ronchi. New Zealand wasn't the first choice for either of them but van Wyk just straight up chose the country tactically; it was always at least Ronchi's second choice and he has genuine ties to the place.

With his actual batting or the fact that he's willing to do anything to get into the team?

I still don't have high hopes for him as a test match opener, he's still a massive fiddler. But if his keeping is up to standard then he'll be a real asset for NZ down the order.

Well both really - his attitude is obviously great, but I was talking about his batting improvements there. I don't think he'll ever be a Test opener either but I think he'd a really good number seven if he took the gloves and comfortably your best non-Ryder bet for #6 currently even if he didn't.

We've had this argument before. On page obscure and twenty in the NZ-SA thread someone posted an article interviewing Kruger about NZ. He plans to be a true blue kiwi. His family lives over here now and they're set to stay.

If he gets dropped today and disappears at the end of the season back home then obvz I can taste it and Kruger can go **** himself.

Also, Kruger never represented South Africa at senior level. Even if it was because he wasn't good enough, he still did not cross that line. Ronchi put on the Australian cap and it should be for life.
