Yeah, I reckon that's a good move which will probably get you votes. Flower is great as a specialist batsman and Engineer will do a good job with the gloves. Win-win.Not sure if I'm doing the right thing but i will relieve Andy Flower off his keeping duties and play him at no 5 as specialist batsman where his average is around 55. Moving Frank Worrell to opening position to accommodate Farokh Engineer at no 7.

Yeah I think that makes your team a lot better personally, but I've always been a pretty harsh critic of Flower's glovework in general. I'm in arguably a similar bind with Walcott - although he was a superb keeper by all reports, injury prevented him from sustaining that workload. I'll be left with a much more limited choice of wicket keepers than you if I choose to go down your path though. Thanks for the feedback guys, was in huge confusion about which way to go
Engineer did a bit of opening himself, did he not? Would seem a waste to open with Engineer and have someone like Worrell chilling at 7 though.AZH probably could have made better picks for his team (Flower as a specialist bat works, Worrell opening is the iffy bit), but there are so many players still needing a keeper-bat that it was a smart move just to take Engineer off the market.
Here is some good footage of Statham bowling to Harvey in 1958/59. I must admit that I was quite taken back by Statham's action which was nothing like I had imagined. Basically he lifts his arm straight up in the air before whirling it over at the delivery stride. I can understand why Glen McGrath was so accurate because his action was so fluid, but how Statham achieved his legendary accuracy with a jerky action like that is a mystery to me;- Monk's XI
- Arthur Morris
- Sid Barnes
- Brian Lara
- Stan McCabe
- Neil Harvey
- Michael Clarke (c)
- Alan Knott (wk)
- Wasim Akram
- Shane Warne
- Brian Statham
- Andy Roberts
I've seen a bit of footage of him bowling. He does have an ugly action. Sort of goes against my "players I'd love to watch" theme, but he was too good a bowler to pass up. He'd compliment Wasim and Roberts perfectly. Here is some good footage of Statham bowling to Harvey in 1958/59. That's rather conservative PEWS. So, Walcott will be at No.7 after all thus completing a very solid batting line-up?VVS Laxman
I wouldn't worry too much Himannv. Tallon will be just fine standing-up at the stumps to Alec Bedser.Don Tallon
Indeed. I was extremely close to picking Tony Grieg but it just looked so much worse on paper than having Laxman at 6 and Walcott at 7. If these teams were judged more as twelve man squads to take around the world then having Griegy along with what my Round 12 pick will be would've made it a more versatile squad for different conditions IMO but I decided to go for on-paper first XI strength. Sold my soul etc. That's rather conservative PEWS. So, Walcott will be at No.7 after all thus completing a very solid batting line-up?
