So given that Vincent has an Auckland contract, does anyone know if he'll be playing more than just T20 this year-and does he count as a local player again now that he isn't playing County cricket as a Kolpak?

And what's happened with Neal Parlane? Is he likely to play for Auckland again now?

Lou will be playing all forms, yeah. Think I'm right in saying he's still classed as an import however?

Neal Parlane turned down an Auckland contract. Doesn't mean he isn't available, it just means he didn't want to commit to being available every week for trainings. Depth wise he'd have to be right in the mix for a batting spot. Andy de Boorder also turned down the contract that Craig Cachopa eventually got.

So is de Boorder still around but in a similar situation to Parlane, then? I'd expect they'll give Cachopa the first chance as he's the guy who has the contract? Parlane and de Borrder to maybe be bailed in if it all go's Pete Tong..

Also really enjoyed your Latham and Rutherford videos.

I have to confess to watching a lot of my cricket on the Sky Sports Highlights channel these days. On that channel there is no such thing as a play & miss, or an LBW turned down. It makes these 2 guys innings look slightly dodgy in comparison to what I normally see. Boundaries, dismissals & milestones.

He was clearly a cut above our other bowlers down in Lincoln I'll admit.

De Boorder is not just four-day batting prowess, he's smart too. Heavily involved at Uni and with those commitments, wasn't prepared to have to commit to a bottom contract with no chance of being involved in the HRV, very little in Ford Trophy and having been overlooked in Plunket last season. Parlane I'm not as sure of but I would say it's a similar situation but in terms of other employment.

Interesting one...you'd like to think they'd pick the best option at the time but yeah surely given the financial resources put into Cachopa, and the fact he will be training with the squad all the time, he'll be more likely to get a look-in. Auckland are lucky in the fact that Parlane and de Boorder have plenty of FC experience and are more than able back-ups. Below that, there's really nothing. I know Andy is still keen to be involved if selected. Didn't score any runs at any level last year so needs to recapture form.

That's Brad, but Craig is in the Auckland squad. I think. I always fall victim to Cachopa confusion.

You can imagine how confusing it was for me 2 or 3 years ago when I was kinda new to NZ cricket and trying to comprehend what the hell was going on!

The Auckland top 7 could possibly look like this then:

McIntosh
Vincent
Kitchen
Hopkins
de Grandhomme
Munro
Young

-with a lot of potential fluidity around 4-7. It feels a bit like everyone's batting "one up";lots of middle-order, not really natural top-orders. So I can see de Boorder and Parlane being needed at some stage. And the "two keepers" situation is a curious one. I suppose it depends on whether Young gets to fulfil his international ambitions again, which is probably unlikely. Hopkins can concentrate on batting and leading and ease those ageing bones a bit?

It puts quite a lot of onus on the Colin's. Munro needs to carry on improving-but can de Grandhomme possibly repeat last seasons performance?

Nah none of those three will play. Rob O'Donnell is the best of the lot but is only 17. His time will come in the Plunket Shield especially. Ben Horne more of a dasher with a very good eye but technique wise needs improvement and Fletcher has two keepers ahead of him at least.

Both Colins will average over 40 in the four-dayers.
