Sobers is not a huge advantage like the Don no matter how you cut it. As a batsman he's on a par with several other greats, and his bowling was OK but nothing special.Still dont agree, because in every draft that Bradman has not ben included, because he would be the automatic first pick, Garry Sobers has been the first pick. Still predictable.
The thing is, Sobers doesn't make your team an automatic winner in terms of its batting lineup.Still dont agree, because in every draft that Bradman has not ben included, because he would be the automatic first pick, Garry Sobers has been the first pick. Still predictable.
I thought we'd go the surname of the president can match up to either the first or last name of the player - reasonable?Well Michael (whose clause it was), used James Garfield to match with Garfield Sobers. So I'd assume it's going to be fairly liberal in that respect. Last name/First name of President can equal either Last name/First name of player, it looks like.
Maybe my cricket knowledge is lacking, but I'm struggling to come up with a list of decent cricketers based on the Surname only of the USA Presidents.I thought we'd go the surname of the president can match up to either the first or last name of the player - reasonable?
OK. Back to schoolEaaaaaasily enough - just checked myself, plenty of recognizable names there too!
So long as they're the same word - no Bush-Push sort of things, Truman to Trueman is okayAre we fine with the President/Cricketer name match being one letter off? Is that the limit?
My gut feeling is that this President name thing could get controversial unless we stick to proper spelling. Jager could end up adjudicating on some weird names when he shouldn't have to.So long as they're the same word - no Bush-Push sort of things, Truman to Trueman is okay
Either spelled the same or pronounced the same.My gut feeling is that this President name thing could get controversial unless we stick to proper spelling. Jager could end up adjudicating on some weird names when he shouldn't have to.
Let's face it - Trueman is no more Truman than Jager is Gager.
What about singular and plurals? Are we going to allow the subtraction or addition of the letter S to a name?Either spelled the same or pronounced the same.
Make it simple, and make it Jager's call if controversial. I'm happy with that.
Cevno is on the clock...
Perhaps we should make it essential to have them in the XI, otherwise I'd hazard a guess they would be relegated to 12th manSo we are going with Player has to share first/last name with a US president's last name?
Also, not to sound ***ist but would be interesting to see if anyone has the female test cricketer in their 11.
