The whole point is to have fun and play within the spirit of the game as the same time. And from what I've seen the vast majority of people practice that ethos at Cricketweb.

Therefore, I don't think that we should compromise our values just because some sad lonely loser decides that their self worth resides in winning a Draft comp at any cost.

Let's not be overly cynical here. Life is too short.
Poor Marcuss isn't having a good week. Called corrupt on CS and now a sad, lonely loser on here.

In fairness, he hasn't said anything particularly bad - in plenty of drafts participants haven't voted - here only a handful of drafters voted, and here it was pretty mixed too. It isn't Marcuss suddenly spitting the dummy and refusing to vote; its a valid choice made by plenty of members over time.

I tend to vote because I can't help myself, but its completely valid to abstain too IMO.

I didn't call Marcuss a 'sad lonely loser', just the hypothetical person who takes Drafting way too seriously and fudges their voting.

Marcuss could be a sprightly little twinkle toes with an abundance of funky friends and a share portfolio of several hundred pounds for all I know.

I've lost plenty of drafts I've not voted in and if winning mattered I'd vote for myself ala kingkallis and Shri.
But yeah, I'm a sad lonely loser who cares so much about winning drafts I'm a douche when it comes to voting and gloat about all my wins in my signature like a few others.

In the first of those drafts, I took part and didn't vote but nobody gave a **** as I.didn't win.

When did I get called corrupt?

Marcuss is on CS?

Also in future draft league voting threads, going to make it compulsory to vote if you were competing

I got Grace, Trumper, Sobers. Lillee & Barnes with the new ball. Knott behind the stumps. And not a single bloody vote. :surrender

Half a bowler short I'd say.
Perhaps. Went for Grace as a genuine all-rounder which I suspect he was for the first few decades of his career to provide that extra option. Also considered opening with Engineer and then adding another fast bowler as the wild card pick. Ah well, hopefully can't get relegated from the reserves and bring on the next draft!

In Trumper, I think you made the best pick of the draft. Definitely a genuine bowler short though - Sobers and Grace combine as a fifth option IMO. Would have played Constantine over Richardson, myself (but I'm not sure what round you picked him up in).

8 antitj's team probable deserves more than a single vote. Murali and Grimmet are 2 great spinners, plus Davidson and Adcock would be dangerous with the new ball. The swing bowling of Botham isn't bad either.

Maybe there is something about Sanga's keeping ability?

My guess is Grimmett batting at 8 and the selection of three openers.

Gavaskar got a double ton against the Windies batting at No.4, so my guess is he would love batting at No. 3 for a change. Davidson batting after Grimmet is a bit irksome, but it's not a patch on having Bradman in the lower order.

Perhaps the teams were really that close in strength that those little things, including Sanga standing up to Clarrie Grimmett, or back to the sheer pace of Neil Adcock, mattered.

Perhaps I'm a bit biased because I kicked off the three openers thing but Gavaskar would make a fine #3, IMO. Seriously considered picking him before I went with Hutton.

6. You can pick players in any round you see fit (i.e. the batting order does not have to be the same as it would be if your sides batting order had no restrictions)
This implies that Michael wanted less emphasis placed on where they actually batted in their careers and more on whether they had the required tools to succeed wherever you put them in your lineup, but didn't have the chance to for whatever reasons.

About 24 hours left if anyone else wants to vote.

At this stage it looks like rvd and Michaelf to be promoted. Jager to confirm when poll closes.

Congrats to rvd and Michael - check out the Draft League thread and submit your clauses and we'll get the next season under way. Thanks to Michael, rvd and Monk for running this season of the reserves, too.

Anyone wanting to run the third season of the reserves? Might as well get it under way now since it was a little behind this season.

MrPrez and Valer will join the reserves, although I believe Valer is not going to be available for this season.

Thanks again everyone

I'm more than happy to chill in the Reserve League and run it . Would it screw up the competition if I remained down here?
