I rate KP leaving threads deserve their own forum..

Has KP ever left a team/country with his name intact?

Given his history, it was always likely to end with a massive flounce though. Ask the good folks in Western Province or Nottinghamshire.
Hants too, obvz.

The most important thing in all this, is Boycott thinks it's all rubbish and he'll definitely play again, he thinks the two side are just posturing at the moment.
The same Boycott who made himself unavailable for his country for three years and then took the Apartheid rand after he came back, to put himself on the sidelines for another three.

Wouldn't say he's necessarily the best gauge of the way the establishment's wind is blowing.

I mean, we've got players Tendulkar and Dhoni (in the past) who have had a history of picking and choosing their Tests, something which KP hasn't done (I assume). Granted the ECB isn't as lax as the BCCI, but they could still have shown some flexibility by letting their star player retire from the one format he doesn't care for. Give him the boot if he then decides to try their limits by asking for a few Tests off.
Rightly or wrongly the ECB and its predecessors have always been inflexible; take Trescothick, for instance.

Here's a chap with a diagnosed depressive illness that is exasperated by absences abroad, but who could still play in home fixtures (whose presence, especially in the shorter formats, we'd definitely be the stronger for) and they weren't prepared to make an exception for him.

So with those kind of precedents, a player like Pietersen, who reportedly wants to miss tests for the IPL (and depsite what he says, it very obviously is all about money) has got Buckley's, as our Australian brethren would have it.

No.

It was always likely to end badly, sooner than many would have expected but KP is the sort who when he makes his mind up he won't change it. I don't expect to see him in an England shirt in any form of the game much longer if ever again.

Hence why it was posted in a bit of non serious manner, take everything Geoffrey says with a pinch of salt.

Thing with KP is...if he just said the **** with it, I'm going to do what serves my best interests, then regardless of how unedifying it might appear to external observers, it would still be a guy doing his thing. Selfish as it may seem, you have to respect it. But the coyness gives off this blackmailing vibe, and it's like he's testing his relationship with the board to have his way. And that smacks of a bit of a preening, precious little ***** I think England would be better off without him. And the biggest pointer to that is the fact that this bull**** drama has all but sealed their chances of drawing this series. Don't see how they're going to rally around this jerk and put their best foot forward in such a crunch game.
Don't think that holds much water at all.

Is it really necessary to have 24 pages on the topic of what KP will or will not do ?

The guy is seeking attention, there isnt any more to it. In SA really, really good players have been fired from the team for far less, to tell you the truth I cant believe they even put up with his tantrums. Smith himself said that if KP retired he would find out quickly he made the wrong choice, that letting go of the game is not as easy as most think it is, specialy not when you still have talent to put to use.

Whatever his descision, youll all find out soon enough anyway.

Yeah, but his average is really good, because he scores so quickly........

Well we have no idea the ECB leaked it, do you think KP is the most discreet person. In fact a fairly iffy suggestion.
Which is why I said if KP is telling the truth.

In fairness to him, it wouldn't be the first time it's happened to him either, IIRC the whole debacle with Moores was leaked by the ECB when KP was on holiday.

and if that is true you can see why he decided to go public if he thought the ECB were leaking private information.

Whatever happens with all this, it needs sorting out sooner rather than later and then the team needs to move on, with who I don't know but it needs sorting quick.

Just to say I asked Dobell about ECB leaks, he just said he couldn't say. The whole thing seems shoddy, I'll admit, but all the more I think it's coming untenable.

I also brought up Brumbers Tres point, it's an interesting one I think.

BTW, not sure KP should be too happy with Piers Morons support, career on a well-deserved slide:laugh:

Yeah may as well go to the source, if you can.

It seems there's not a lot of love for Giles Clarke in journo-land. Well I wanted him sacked after the fiasco.

Probably a clash of the egos. Yet it's clearly dragging others in now.

Unedifying, oh and of all the slebs to fight your cause, it isn't KPs fault Morgan is fighting his. Yet there's few people that will get my hackles up more then him. His current campaign of slagging off Gold winning athletes for not singing our dirge of a national anthem, is just great.

He was joined by Vinnie Jones, so let me get this right, a bloke who switched allegiances to play for another country when he found out he wasn't good enough for England better known as a thug, and a bloke who put soldiers lives at risk with fake pics, are playing the patriotism card against the likes of Kenny and Wiggins, both safe from their homes in LA.

**** me/ sorry for off-topic, but he pisses me off beyond belief.

If Piers Morgan never returns to these shores I'll be happier.

Clarke's annoying as anyone going, bit too dodgy for my liking too. If there's one ego bigger in than KP's in English cricket its his.

Bopara dropped out of the England Loins match.

Cricinfo's Twatter:

Bopara: "I thought I was ready to return to action but after some consideration I just feel it's too early so won't be playing quite yet"
'too early' is an interesting choice of words - as in something has happened rather than something's an ongoing situation. If his missus has suffered a miscarriage or something, then he deserves a bit more sympathy for dropping out than I originally thought. Of course, I might be miles off beam with the actual situation.

alot of players fired from our team had good averages as well. Herschelle Gibbs is one example, now there is a player that can on any given day take the game away from anyone, with ability to hit 6 6's ( 36 runs ) in a single over. and he was not just booted from team, but banned from playing for SA ever again over petty stuff... seriously, England need to stick it to their players.

It's an honor to represent your country, it should NOT be on your terms. PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

look at the first match between SA and England, Kallis was on 181 and he sent a message to smith to declare instead of pushing for the last 19 runs to make a double ton, how many players do you know that will do that ? . The interest of your team and country should always come before your own, and this is one of the things that i am convinced makes SA a great team, for them its not just about getting batting averages up or personal goals. Its always about not letting your country and your fans down. Look when SA sing the anthem on the next match and youll see what i mean.

If KP pulled this stunt in SA, good player or not, they would bench him in a heartbeat. but if he were in SA he wouldnt even consider doing this, this is a typical Pommie attitude, so i wouldn't expect anything less from him ...
