We're too good. Reckon we might be challenging for 2nd place if we could have entered more people in each individual event.

Lol@ the French accusing us of cheating as well.

****ing rich when one considers the lad Kenny beat in the final just received a backdated ban for missing drugs tests.

Probably get burnt at the tower for saying this, but too many golds handed out in Cycling, I feel the same about swimming too, all very well talking about multiple winners of golds, but these events do seem to give a lot of medal for transferable skills.

Hmm, I don't agree tbh, their are only 5 disciplines on track and there aren't really any individual ones which are similiar to each other. Do you feel the same about the 100,200 & 4x100 in athletics? The team pursuit and omnium require completely different athletes to the sprint, team sprint and madison, at most someone could be a medal chance in 3 disciplines and one of them is a team event.

In Swimming you could be like Phelps and be great at more than one stroke but you are much more limited in the cycling - the road events require very different training as well which is why cav gave up the track (although he is considering returning to it)

Nah. There aren't that many. They're just transferable because our guys are so far ahead of the rest that we don't have to specialise. I would argue there should probably be more if any - not in the velodrome but long distance ones.

Swimming on the other hand is definitely over the top. What the hell do you need multiple distances at four strokes for? As someone who swims regularly breast-strokers should be shot anyway. There's only one stroke that's practical and that's front crawl, the rest are just slow and less efficient ways of getting to the other end. It's like giving medals for hopping around the track or moonwalking 10 kilometres. Except we're land mammals, so even those examples are not as bad.

Well, I do a bit TBH, seems a bit harsh on middle-distance runners and the like. I must admit I know little about cycling. Three events seems enough to me.

At least, unlike swimming they don't have relays for each event though, that really takes the piss.

Yeah, your probably right, I'm probably more annoyed at swimming, so having a go here away from swim-fans, I'm a tad bored with the Phelps love.

They've actually dropped cycling events this time round haven't they? I know the Madison was removed anyway.

Don't think ten track events, combined, is that many tbh.

There were 10 golds available in track cycling last time but now they have got rid of the Mens Individual Pursuit,Mens Madison and Both Points races, replacing them with Womens Keirin and Team Sprint and both the Omnium events.

I don't think 14 races for the 2 ***es would be too over the top, after all it is so bloody exciting to watch. Not saying this because we are dominating either as when you compare 10 golds available to 32 in swimming it isn't as though it is over the top.

Could be a good couple of hours coming up in the velodrome. Trott should get at least a silver, perhaps gold, Pendleton guaranteed a silver and going for gold and Hoy looks pretty good for a medal in the Keirin, although its sometimes a bit of a lottery.

Hoy's dad could do with getting on a bike for a few rides himself...would have to be a reinforced one tho...interesting to see what happens to Hoy once he retires if he puts on a bit of weight or not

Reckon he'll be massive, myself. Typical stocky Scots endomorph like John Robertson or Alan Brazil, who're both huge now they've given up.

Yeh but the cyclists have a totally different attitude towards fitness than the some scottish bloke in the 70s.
